China's answer to Wayne Rooney, Li Tie, is making a rapid recovery since returning from China to continue his recuperation. Li will however miss China assault on The Asia Cup, which is being held in his homeland starting this weekend. Everton are happy with the progress of the Chinese International, as he himself targets his comeback this season. Li says: "I feel better now. I still can't play with the ball at the moment, but I am starting to look forward to the new season. I want to play as many games as I can. I hope I can get more opportunities, and I know I need to improve on my confidence which can help me to achieve more." (09/07/04) Can't Wait Li Tie had one bad time of it last season but he wants to put that all behind him and hopes to make a big impact for the new season. Li Tie says:" I missed so many matches last season and then I broke my shin white on national duty in January. I want to play as many games as I can. I hope that I can get more opportunities and I know I need to improve on my confidence which can help me to achieve more. (07/07/04) Come In Li Tie, Your Time Is Up Li Tie is preparing to return to Merseyside after Mick 'Basil' Rathbone has studied his medical reports, and feels it's time the Chinese International returned to step up his rehabilitation. Basil says: "Li Tie’s agent came in on Tuesday with some latest X-Rays. He’s coming in at the end of the month and it seems as though everything is healing okay. It’s a very simple fracture, he’s still in plaster of Paris, but he’ll be coming back shortly. We’ll work with him in May and June and hope that he’ll be ready and raring to go for the start of pre-season training in July." (11/04/04) Disappointed Li Tie is extremely saddened at the fact that the Blues will not be touring his homeland at the end of the season. This is not due to any footballing reasons, but he had promised a mate, who's house was continually being robbed, that he knew this well hard Scottish bloke, who could put an end to all his troubles. Li Tie says: " I'm disappointed, and I'm sure many of our Chinese fans are too. Everton is really popular in China now. We have a huge amount of fans now in China, and they would love to see the players in the flesh." (18/03/04) Can't Wait To Get Back Li Tie has been told by the Everton medical staff, that he can stay in his home land for another few weeks, whilst he recuperates from his fractured shin. In saying that Li is desperate to return to Merseyside to regain his fitness, as he is missing the the training and especially all his team mates. Li Tie says: "It’s definitely a bad time to get injured although no time is a good time. It’s also a serious injury, I am not sure when I can get back to full fitness but I hope it’s as soon as possible. I’ve not played as many games as last season and this season has been disappointing for me, especially when you compare it to the season I had last year. As a footballer the most important thing is to play for your team, and it’s frustrating when you can’t. But, injuries happen, it’s normal if you’re a footballer, you can’t complain about it. The only thing you can do is concentrate on your work and improving yourself. I am missing the training ground, missing my team-mates, missing playing and our fans as well. I care a lot about Everton. I felt so happy after last Saturday's result against Aston Villa, which must have been a fantastic game. I’m a bit disappointed that I wasn’t at Goodison for it." (07/03/04) Break Confirmed After a week of confusion, it has finally been confirmed that Everton's Chinese International Li Tie has broken his leg and will be out for the rest of the season. A freak training ground accident with team mate Yang Pu, has put paid to Li Tie performing again this season. Everton's medical staff finally got news through that they were dreading, and Li Tie will have his right leg in plaster for the foreseeable future. Moyesy says: "Obviously when you’re half way around the world you never get quite the communication you’d expect but by all accounts Li Tie has broken his leg which rules him out for the rest of the season. It’s been difficult for him in his second season but we could say that about a lot of us in our second season, Li Tie is no different. He’s a tremendous lad, he’s a conscientious worker and he’s desperate to do well. He was really pleased with himself that he impressed everyone last year and he’ll be disappointed now that he’s not able to put in a good end to the season."(19/02/04) Out For The Season? Whilst away on international duty in China, Li Tie has picked up a training ground injury which was first reported as a broken shin. He was involved in a tackle with Yang Pu - a player the shite are reputedly after - and is now out of the Wold Cup qualifying match against Kuwait on Wednesday. Mick Rathbone is awaiting further details but Li Tie's nightmare season looks like continuing. (16/02/03) Happy Birthday Li Tie is 26 today. To celebrate we have a new bluekipper.com wallpaper, featuring our Chinese International. Click here. (18/09/03) Few More Weeks Our midfield jinx continues with Li Tie having no chance of making the Newcastle game. The Chinese star who missed the Derby through suspension broke down with a foot injury, and has not trained since. He would have been a definite starter with the sale of Penmbridge, and injuries to Gemmill and Carsley who is now making good progress to full fitness. Moysey says :"Li Tie has a foot injury and won't start training again until next week.It is something which has been developing and he needs rest to sort it out .(12/09/03) Out of The Derby Li Tie is out of the derby, as he is suspended for being sent off at Arsenal. Li Tie says: “I was unhappy to receive the red card. It is not a good thing for me, but I can’t complain, only accept and face it. Last season I got some yellow cards in matches, but not worse than this time. This is my first time to get a red card in the Premiership. Everyone will meet all kinds of things in their life, some bad things will change into good things, and the most important thing is to learn from this. What I need to do is to get more experience. I will learn how to control myself. In a strange environment it becomes more important to do it, especially when you play football in the Premiership. The boss had a talk with me about the red card; he gave me lots of advice on how to avoid it happening in the future. I didn’t want to have a bad start to the season, but it has happened, so I accept it. The boss and my teammates didn’t blame me, but I will criticize myself and think carefully why it happened and make sure it doesn’t happen again.” (21/08/03) I Love Everton Finally Li Tie put pen to paper to a three year deal and proclaimed there was only ever going to be one club he was going to sign for. The fee is not being disclosed. Li
Tie said:“During the last two months, my agent told me that there
was interest from a number of other clubs, but I never thought I would
leave Everton and I didn’t want to. I never wanted to go to another club.
I love Everton. I’ve got a lot of friends here and I’m happy here.Staying
here is good for my professional career too.” Michael Dunford said: He’s a delightful lad to deal with. He’s very, very professional in his attitude at the training ground and David Moyes speaks highly of him. We’re just delighted that the matter has been concluded. Hopefully, he will be here for three years, and, who knows, he may decide to stay after that period. Everything’s fallen into place now; it has been rather longer than we anticipated, we’re just delighted that the player is here and will remain on a permanent basis here on Merseyside (12/08/03) Not Worth A Mill It seems that David Moyes is sticking to his guns with this one. He is insisting that he is not worth £1m. I just hope that Li Tie will be an Everton player soon and it's already in the bag. He played 30 odd games in his 1st season in this country and he will be a better player this time around. Not a bad goal Li. Moysey said:"That goal might help him in the eyes of the supporters, but I have said all along that Li Tie is too expensive."I will not pay £1m for him. That's not his value in my eyes in the current transfer market. I like him a lot. He is a terrific player and I would like to have him here, but I don't think that £1m is his value. That's what Scotsmen do, get value for their money!"(28/07/03) |
