Another Everton player who is not certain of what the future holds is Nick Chadwick. After being farmed out last season to Millwall, Chaddy is playing it by ear about the season ahead. Chaddy
says: "I said last year that I’m getting to an important
stage in my career. I’ll see how things go at the start of the season
and how I progress before taking a look at things and deciding what to
do for the best. Lions Scrap Chaddy Offer FA Cup Finalists Millwall, have enquired about taking Chaddy on a permanent basis, but apparently Everton's asking price far exceeded what the Lions were prepared to pay. Chaddy who became a cult figure at the New Den, would have jumped at the chance, as his appearances at Goodison have been limited to say the least. Lions Chairman Leo Phapitis says: "I spoke to Everton and the figures they were quoting for his value were so ridiculous there was no point going any further." (01/05/04) Polaris @ The Semi Nick spent a day at Old Trafford on the bench for Millwall in the FA Cup semi-final win over Sunderland. It is thought Chadders won't be involved at the Millennium Stadium, as a rule says a player is not permitted to spend more than 93 days at any one club on loan & he will reach that total before the FA Cup Final. (05/04/04) Staying at The Den Even though Everton are down to the bare bones with strikers due to injuries & suspensions, Moyesy is not recalling Chadders. Nick can now be involved in the FA Cup Semi final against Sunderland. Moyesy says: “We see no real need to recall Nick. We still have Tomasz Radzinski and Francis Jeffers and we have James McFadden who can play up front if necessary." (31/03/04) Scoring Return Chaddy was on the scoresheet again, on his return to Millwall. Chaddy netted a superb volley to round off a great victory for his loan club, as they emphatically thumped play off hopefuls, and deadly rivals West Ham 4-1.(22/03/04) Cup Heart Ache Chaddy's on off affair with Millwall, is back on, and the young striker is back off to The Den. Unfortunately for Chaddy though, under Footy League rules, his loan spell will end on May 4th, which would mean that if the London side turn Sunderland over to reach the Cup Final, Chaddy would not be allowed to take part. Everton Secretary Dave Harrison says: "Under the Football League short-term loan regulations, a player is not permitted to spend more than 93 days at any one club and unfortunately for Nick, he will reach that total before the FA Cup Final, should Millwall be involved." (19/03/04) Cup Cock Up Chaddy will not be eligible to play for Millwall in next week's Cup Quarter Final, because his injury delayed his return to The Den, so he missed the registration date by a day or so. Chaddy says: "I was supposed to go on Wednesday. I have just had a slight inflammation of the shin, which is a result of all the hard work I have put in after recovering from the hernia operation. It is desperately disappointing because if I had signed before tomorrow I would have been eligible to play in the Quarter-Final of the FA Cup which any player would love to do. It would have been great but that’s not going to happen." (27/02/04) Back To The Lions Den Nick could be going back to Millwall on another loan deal. Lions assistant manager. Ray Wilkins says: "Getting Nick back will only add to the quality that we have already got." (24/02/04) Time To Go Nick Chadwick is coming to terms with the fact that his future may lay away from Goodison Park. Chaddy who has been farmed out to a host of clubs on loan in the past few seasons, is out of contract in the Summer, and he is longing for first team football. Still only 21, me finds it incredible that Moyesy is even contemplating letting him go, with our poor return this year in front of goal. Give the lad a chance I say, as for fuck's sake he can't do any worse with some of the performances dished up this season. Chaddy says: "I am 21 now and I have not played regular first-team football since the little run that I got at the end of 2002. I've got to look at my career. First-team football is most definitely in my mind. I think it will be the case that I will probably go somewhere else."(19/02/04) Chadders Is Back Nick Chadwick is back tonight and plays for the reserves away at WBA, he has recovered from his hernia op and will be watched by Moyesy as he leads the line for the second string. He is in a strong line up which will include Stevie Watson, Alex Nyarko, Scot Gemmill & Steve Simo, hopefully Nick can get himself in the gaffers good books because Super & Big Dunc are likely to be shown the door in the Summer and that would leave the way open for young Nick. Welcome back. (16/02/04) We Want Chaddy To Stay Millwall hope to extend Chaddy's loan deal after he has had his hernia operation. Chaddy is expected to go under the surgeon's knife after Millwall's trip to Wigan this weekend, were they are hoping to take a trip around the pier. Balding ex Midfield Maestro Ray Wilkins says: "Nick is definitely a Millwall type of player and the fans have clearly taken to him. Once he's had his groin problem sorted out we're hopeful David Moyes will allow him to stay with us. I'm not sure whether he would allow Nick to leave permanently, but we'd like to hang on to him as long as we can." (07/01/04) Back at Bellefield Chaddy will be staying on in the Lion's Den, even though it has been agreed that he needs a hernia operation sooner rather than later. He was called back to Bellefield yesterday so his injury could be assessed, but sources close to the club believe the only reason he was called back was that Moyesy was extremely unhappy with the youngster for not contributing to the gaffer's Christmas present. Moyesy had apparently bought all the lads blag copies of the new Lord of the Rings film, but Chaddy was not forthcoming with his contribution to Moyesy's present which was a new tracky and whistle for training. Moyesy says: "At the moment Nick will go for another month. He’s got a bit of a problem and he’s probably going to need a hernia operation in the next few weeks but he might as well play until it becomes impossible. We’ll probably leave him with Millwall until that situation arises and then we’ll get him operated on." (25/12/03) Chaddy says: "It’s nice to be back, as I’ve had a bit of a groin problem since I’ve been down there. The physio up here just wanted me to come back just to have a look at it. I’ve seen everybody here and wished everybody a Happy Christmas then I’ll be back down there to play on Boxing Day for Millwall." (25/12/03) Chaddy To Stay Down Sarf Although Chaddy wants to play for the Everton 1st team. He realises that may not be possible at the moment. So would be willing to stay at Millwall for a while longer. As well as the footy, he is enjoying the bright lights of London. Nick
says: "It would be great to carry on playing first-team
football. If I am not able to play for the first team at Everton, which
is unlikely, it would be great to stay at The Den. I hope that will happen
- but it depends on the manager. I have-enjoyed my time tremendously -
though, with not having a recognised strike partner, it has been difficult.
I think we have played reasonably well and I hope with the right partner
I can score more goals. The lads have been great and taken me on a few
nights out." Chaddy Nets On Debut Nick Chadwick who was farmed out this week to Division One Millwall, scored a twenty yard stunner in his new clubs 3-2 defeat at Bradford City.It is remarkable that Moyesy in his infinite wisdom loans Chaddy out, who scores goals for fun, whilst our strikers would have trouble hitting a bull's arse with a shovel.Hey but that's just my opinion. Millwall Gaffer Dirty Dennis Wise says: "Tim Cahill and Nick Chadwick were our best two players, Nick did very well and if he continues to play like that I think David Moyes will want him back." (30/11/03) Into The Lion's Den Nick Chadwick has definitely joined First Division Millwall on a months loan. Since starting for the Blues in the season opener at Highbury, Chaddy has seen his first team chances limited, with an abundance of strikers ahead of him in the pecking order. Last season Nick was loaned out to Derby to gain some valuable first team experience, so hopefully it won't be long till we see Chaddy back at Goodison, knocking on the first eleven's door.Millwall coach Ray Wilkins is delighted at his clubs new acquisition. Ray Wilkins says: "Nick comes highly recommended. He's got everything we were looking for in a centre-forward. Dennis was keen on getting a big lad to lead the line and he fits the bill. He's scored goals in the Premiership and has seven in seven reserve games this season. We've been after someone to give us options up front and he could make a difference." (27/11/03) Loan Deal Some reports say Nick has joined Millwall in a one month loan deal. He is still penciled in for a game for Everton reserves tonight. It is unclear if he will go before or after the game. If he does go it will give him some much needed 1st team practice, as Millwall are short of strikers. (26/11/03) Key Of The Door Another striker enjoyed a birthday a few days ago, but did not get the same attention as a certain eighteen year old.Nick Chadwick turned twenty one at the weekend, and as at all birthdays started to think about his future, especially at The Blues. Currently still out with hamstring trouble, the injury could not have come at a worst time. Before last weekend Everton were at the bare bones in the striker department, and Chaddy would have been certainly in the squad. He is confident of being back training next week, so hopefully it won't be long till he is knocking on the first team's door again. Chaddy says: "I think that Wayne and myself could form a great partnership for Everton in the future. There’s no reason why not. But there’s not only Wayne Rooney who I could probably play up front with, there’s the others as well. Every time I’ve had a little bit of a sniff I seem to have done fairly well. I’ve scored a few goals and I’ve just got to build on that. Obviously it’s been a little bit disappointing the fact that I’ve gone in and done well and then not been included again for whatever reason. All I can do is make the manager’s job difficult and like everybody else here you’ve just got to make sure you do as well as you can and let the manager pick the team and keep your fingers crossed. Obviously I’ll be trying to force his hand but we’ll take it from next week and we’ll see how things go. (28/10/03) Penalty Points Nick Chadwick had one of his more eventful evenings on a football pitch, in last nights rezzy victory over the Mancs at Southport's Haig Avenue. In a crazy five minute period in the second half, the young striker managed to miss two spot kicks, blasting one over the bar, and the second saved by the keeper. Chaddy though made amends by scoring two of his other chances, to capture the three points for the Blues, to maintain his record of scoring seven goals in his six Second Team starts this season. Chaddy says: "It was an eventful night, and I was a bit lucky with the first goal, then I missed two penalties and I was determined to score after that. It was awful to miss two penalties and I was glad to get the goal. There were a few laughs in the dressing room afterwards, but I’m sure we wouldn’t have been laughing if we’d hadn’t have won. They weren’t very good penalties. I don’t often miss spot kicks I’ve taken a good few and I’ve scored every one in the past couple of seasons, but that’s the way it goes sometimes.I’m sure I’ll be taken off them now, but I’ll be working on them in the training ground and I'll smack a few more in and get my confidence back with them." (08/10/03) Determined To Press For Place Even
though Chaddy wasn't even on the bench for the 4-0 slaughter of Leeds,
despite scoring in the Carling Cup game against Stockport, he is still
determined to make it in the first team. Nick Presses His Claim What can I say Chaddy says it all !!! Chaddy says: “It was a good night for me and a good night for Everton. It could have been a potential banana skin here tonight but I thought we played well and it was nice to get on the score sheet. I enjoyed the goal very much. The manager has said that he’ll always give young lads a chance, especially if they’re doing well. I’d like to think that I’ve been doing well enough over the past couple of weeks to be involved and it was nice to be involved tonight.I had an inkling the other day that I was going to play against Stockport, but officially I was told an hour before with the rest of the lads. I didn’t really get that much time to think about it but I’m quite confident that if I do come in I’m certainly not going to let anyone down and hopefully get a goal or two.I really believe I can challenge to be in the starting eleven. If I didn’t believe it then there’d be no point in me being here. I realise I’m only 20 years of age but for 20 years of age I’m doing really well here. It’s a big club and I just need to push the manager, keep making it hard for him to leave me out and that’s what I intend to do.You obviously always think about the ones you should have scored but as long as I’m creating chances for myself or getting chances I’m happy. You’ve got to be there to miss them as you’ve got to be there to score them, so I was glad to score one but a bit disappointed I didn’t score more but you always will be.If I’m given the chances I’m quite confident I’ll score goals at the top level and, like I say, I was just glad to get back on the scoresheet tonight and give people a few reminders.” (25/09/03)
Nick scored another 2 goals for the reserves last night against Man City. Bringing his total to 5 in 3 games for the rezzies. Moyesy says: "Nick, also, has been terrific. He is another young player and sometimes you forget that because he has been in and around and maybe pushed in sooner than we would have liked. When I first arrived here Kevin and Duncan were both injured and he had to go straight into the first team - and scored a couple of goals. But he is doing fine at the moment." (19/09/03) Giving His All One fella who could be forgiven for being a bit chessed off with the new players coming in is Chaddy. Not at all. He gave it everything for the reserves in 5-0 victory on Tuesday night and Andy Holden was chuffed with Nick's performance. Andy
said:" I was delighted for Nick Chadwick, that kid doesn’t
half put a shift in. I wouldn’t like to play against him. I think the
two centre halves who were up against him ended up having cramp at the
end. I said to him with three minutes to go; ‘you’ll get one more chance.’ Ready For New Season With
Kevin Campbell picking up an injury,The Duke still out, & Big Dunc
out suspended for 3 games, Chadders looks set to partner The Rad against
The Arse in the big season opener next Saturday. A Chance Injuries and suspensions have given a sniff of a stating place. Nick said: "I would like to think I put forward more of a claim than being the only fit forward. I was injured last season, Wayne is now and Duncan is suspended for the first couple of games, so perhaps there is a little opening there. I will have to wait and see. I don't know what the manager has planned for the start of the season and all I can do is work hard and play football."(30/07/03) Call Up Nick Chadwick and Leon Osman have been called up into the 1st team squad at St. Andrews after Wayne Rooney's injury. Moysey
said:"The situation with Wayne does give Nick a real chance
and gets him a bit closer to it. Off To A Flyer. Chadders and David Moyes are as pleased as punch with the hat-trick, but Nick knows not to get carried away and just keep plugging away. Chadders said:Its only the first game so its important for me not to get carried away, Moysey said:"Nick took his goals well and as a centre-forward a hat-trick will do his confidence no harm at all. What Chaddy does is get goals at the right time and come up with the goods, whether it's for the reserves or whoever. He's had a taste of the first team already but now he's got to bridge the gap to the first team to establish himself. There are a lot of good players ahead of him so he'll have to do well but he's done himself no harm tonight."(18/07/03) Forgotten Man Chadders
is keen as mustard to impress early on in Austria, as he thinks he needs
to show what he can do from the off. |
