7. Niclas Alexandersson

Saint Nic

La Manga For Nic

According to our man Henrik in Sweden, Nic will leave Everton now
and join IFK Gothenburg's training camp next week in Spain's La Manga.
Apparently, his contract has been terminated earlier than expected. Or as Hendrik says: "FOTBOLL Niclas Alexandersson lämnar redan nu Everton och ansluter i nästa vecka till IFK Göteborgs träningsläger i spanska La Manga. " (25/02/04)

This Time Surely

Reports suggest that Nasty Nic, has at long last left Goodison, and that IFK Gothenburg are set to unveil the Sweedish legend at a press conference soon. The 32 year old has been hanging around in the rezzies earning a reported £20,000+ a week for his invaluable experience, and I am sure he will be a huge loss to all at Everton. I can't continue writing, this will be one of those days, like when you knew where you were when Kennedy was shot, I'm sorry I can't carry on, I need another Stella. (04/02/04)

Everton Legend Shown The Exit Door

It definitely looks like good bye to Nasty Nic, as The Swedish winger is desperate to get back to his homeland. Gothenburg, and a host of other clubs, such as Leigh RMI and Morecambe are said to be interested in signing the classy good looking Swede, or is that turnip.

Nasty Nic says : "The best thing would be if Everton and another club could reach an agreement. Two clubs, IFK Gothenburg and OIS have shown their interest to my agent. There have not been any negotiations or such things. In January, I will know more." (01/01/04)

Should I Stay, Or Should I Go Now !

Nasty Nic who cannot for love nor money worm his way into Moyesy affections is preparing to dig in and see his contract out till next Summer, but he has left his options open, if a club does come in for him in January. Accrington Stanley are said to be monitoring the situation closely. Accrington who, exactly.

Nasty Nic says: "The possibility exists to leave in the transfer window, but at the moment, I am set to stay at Everton until my contract expires next summer." (28/11/03)

Homeward Bound (Please)

Nasty Nic has had some interest in him, from his old club IFK Gothenburg. An approach has been made by Director Mats Persson to Nic's agent to register an interest in him.The approach was made as Mr. Persson was being carted off in an ambulance by some men in white coats, who were heard telling him everything will be OK, if he just kept still.

IFK Director Mats Persson says: "The only serious thing that has happened is that we have contacted his agent to notify him of our interest." (30/10/03)

Legend Wants Away

Nasty Nic who is in the last seven months of his contract with the Blues has said he is returning home at the end of the season. The 31 year old wants to play the last few seasons of his career in Sweden before he goes out to pasture. The hard working, skillful, energetic, creative midfield player is going to be terribly, terribly missed by all Blues' fans, as his work ethic for the club I feel will never be bettered.Satire at it's finest me thinks.

Nasty Nic says: "I will do my best, this is my last year up there so I will almost certainly be going back to Sweden after this season. I might finish with a year or two playing over there but time will tell that.I have gone back up the road again to see if I can get any games up there, it will be hard, obviously, but as always I will keep trying my best and we will see." (22/10/03)

Coming Home

Nasty Nic has decided to return to Goodison for the foreseeable future.Alexandersson who had been at Upton Park for the last month has rejected an offer by the Hammers board to stay on an extended loan.He had made made four starts for the First Division outfit, but maybe he still feels he has something to offer the Blues.

Michael Dunford says: "West Ham United did contact us about the possibility of extending the loan but Niclas has decided he wants to return." (20/10/03)

Non Starter

Coach Alan Irvine today said why Nasty Nic was not allowed to start for the Hammers away win at Cardiff last night. In the event that we ever do have a decent run in this competition, and we progress to the later stages, he wanted to be able to pick from the fullest squad available. The same is for Paul Gerrard at Sheffield United.Personally I would have played them both so they have not got a chance to fuck us up in the later stages, hey but that's my opinion.

Irvine says : “No, we can’t do that, because obviously they’re likely to be coming back to us so when they do come back we want to make sure that we can pick from everyone rather than saying that well we can’t pick from them because they’re cup tied.” (24/09/03)

Winning, Energy, Pace and Aggression

Saint Nic says: "David Moyes didn't want to play me. It was very disappointing, but he has a certain style of play and felt that I didn't fit in."
Yes, and? (18/09/03)

Hammer Nic

Saint Nic has joined West Ham on loan. He has been one of the most disappointing(as Walter would say) signings we have made. Started like a world beater, but after a couple of games went down the pan. Always looked the part, but when it came to it, let us down time after time. The 31-year-old flew to Upton Park from Merseyside late on Thursday night to complete the deal and will meet his new team-mates tomorrow.

Caretaker boss Trevor Brooking says: "You can try the untried youngster but you are really looking for someone who has played in the Premiership and who has played at different levels. I know Niclas has played at the top level and is capable of doing it, and it was just about making sure about current match fitness, attitude and everything else." Don't hold yer breath Trev. (11/09/03)

Left Out

Another false dawn seems to have arrived. Nic was given the thumbs up by Moyesy only last week, but now it looks as though he'll be lucky to get a game this season. After the defeat at Dundee Utd Nic was one of the players dropped by Moyesy. Some were put on the bench for the Preston game. Not Nic. Moyesy has stuck him in the reserves. He played at Southport last night, while the senior squad were getting beat by Roda. Lucky Nic! So what future now for Saint Nic? He has been a big disappointment at Everton. (06/08/03)

Last Season?

Niclas is in the last year of his contract and he knows if he doesn't perform this season he won't be offered a new contract. He is determined to give it his best shot.

Nic said:"This is the final year of my Everton contract and you don't know what the future holds. I'm getting older and nothing has been decided about the future. I just want to have a good season. It's not like it used to be when players changed clubs and had a few choices open to them. There's a lot of players out there with no clubs at all so you have to try and look after yourself by playing well."

I definitely want a new contract here. If you feel fit you want to extend your career for as long as possible so this is a very important season for me. I hope to prove myself and hopefully stay injury-free which I haven't done in most seasons at Everton to be honest. That has made it more difficult to keep my fitness at the right level but I hope this year can be different.

"I'd love to stay at Everton if I could, absolutely. Everything is perfect for me at the club, except of course for the fact I wasn't playing last season. I like being at the club and living in the area. My family are very settled here but I'll have to wait until the end of the season to find out what is happening next."

Nic - It's up to yerself !! (16/07/03)

Impressive

We haven't spoken about this fella for ages. But early indications suggest that his injury problems are behind him and with having a rest during the break we may see the best of our Swedish friend.

Moyesy said: "Niclas is looking in particularly good condition. I think he has benefited from having his first real summer’s break for a while, with no international commitments, and he has been the most impressive so far."(11/07/03)
