New Deal Yet
Peter
Clarke feels he may have played his last game for his beloved
Blues, after last night outing for the rezzies. Clarke who is
out of contract in the Summer, has yet to be approached by the
club regarding a new deal.
Clarkey
says: "I don't know what the plans are for me at
the end of the season. As things stand, that was my last game
for Everton. It's disappointing. I've spent 12 years at this club.
No one wants to leave a club such as Everton - and neither do
I. There's disappointment there, but you can't let your disappointment
rule you. You have to bounce back and fight on - and wherever
the next step may be for me, I'll take it and hopefully everything
will go well for me." (28/04/04)
Back
You Come Son
Clarkey
is heading back up the M6, after Coventry boss Eric Black, decided
not to extend the young defenders loan period. Clarkey will be
heading back to a four game ban, after a few misdemeanors whilst
at the Midlands club.
Eric
Black says: "I'd like to thank Peter for his valuable
contribution during his time with Coventry City. Unfortunately
we have a number of injuries in our squad at present and feel
that we may need to use our remaining loan options elsewhere."

Staying
Put
Coventry
boss Eric Black has assured Peter Clarke, that he will be staying
at Coventry, despite his dismissal on Tuesday night. He put Clarkey's
sending off down to enthusiasm, and added he would like the England
Under 21 International, to stay till the end of the season.
Black
says : "I have looked at the sending off again and
the more I look at it the more disappointed I am because Peter
has come through but he has played the ball and the other player
has not played the ball. So my understanding was that if he had
been booked, fair enough, but not to send Robinson off when he
sent Peter off was a harsh decision. Peter was enthusiastic and
maybe a little naive, but if he goes then both have to go. I like
Peter and I like what I have seen so far because he has a great
attitude and is a great boy to have about, so I will try to keep
him. Obviously he is going to miss three games but he has contributed
since he has been here and that's what you ask for from a loan
player. I will speak to Everton and I know Peter would be delighted
to stay, but we need to see if Everton will be happy to extend
his stay. I think he has affected us positively and I would like
to continue to have him here because I think he can contribute
until the end of the season." (05/03/04)
Clarkey
May Be Back
Peter
Clarke may find his loan period at Coventry not extended due to
his remarkable three minute sending off the other night. Coventry
officials are asking the referee from the evening to review the
challenge, to see if he had been a bit harsh on handing Clarkey
a straight red. Amazingly this is not the quickest sending off
ever, as that honour belongs to Irish League Legend Bertie O'Shea,
who inside six seconds was sent off for his local side after refusing
to help remove the cow dung from his home pitch.
Clarkey
says: "I know I will be OK to play on Saturday but
I don’t know when the suspension will kick in and it could affect
the loan spell which is not ideal at all. Things had been going
fairly well because we had won two games and kept two clean sheets
and if it suited both parties then a second month would probably
have been agreed for me. But with a suspension looming the board
and manager have got a decision to make, like can they afford
to have a player on loan who is going to be missing for three
games? Hopefully, if the referee can look at the decision again,
that won’t be the case. If he feels he was a touch hasty then
maybe there won’t be a suspension."(04/03/04)
Sky Blues Boss Eric Black says: "We will have to
assess that. I think he has done well for us so far and it is
really unfortunate that it has happened."(04/03/04)
Clarkey
Off
Peter
Clarke was sent off after only three minutes last night, for Coventry
City in their 1-0 win away to Cardiff in their Division One match.
Clarkey was dismissed as early as the third minute, after an ugly
challenge on the Cardiff player John Robinson. Despite being down
to ten men for all of the game, the Sky Blues grabbed a second
half goal, to gain maximum points and spare Clarkey's blushes.

Head
To Head
Two
of Everton's farmed out youngster's will go head to head this
weekend, when Peter Clarke's Coventry, play host to Leon Osman's
Derby County.
Clarkey
says: "I know Ossie quite well, we've played together
for probably eight or nine years now. I'll probably speak to him
before the game and tell him to have a late night and plenty to
drink on Friday night so hopefully he won't be on top form. He's
not the biggest of lads but he's skilful, a tough tackler, very
tenacious and he'll give you everything he's got. He's probably
not the strongest in the air but he's been doing quite well which
is good from his point of view, but hopefully he won't do quite
so well on Saturday." (26/02/04)
Out
Again
Clarkey
must now believe his future is away from Everton. If he can't
get into the team now he never will do. He starts a months loan
to Coventry and goes into their squad on Saturday to play Norwich.
Good Luck Clarkey.
Moysey
said : We don’t have a game this weekend and by that
time hopefully we’ll have Joseph Yobo back and David Weir is only
a couple of weeks away to being fit. So, I felt that it was only
fair that he had a chance to go out.(13/02/04)
Ready
To Go
Clarkey
is ready to boot the shite all over the place if he is needed.
Clarkey
said:" Like I said last week, I don’t like to see
any of the lads get hurt, but if that’s what it takes to give
me a chance then hopefully the injury’s not too serious and I
can take that chance given the opportunity. If that chance is on
Saturday then brilliant. I played in the derby at Anfield a couple
of seasons ago which was brilliant and we got a 1-1 draw. From
now on I’m going to keep my fingers crossed and hope that come
Saturday I’m going to be involved." (27/01/04)
Good
To Be Back
Peter
Clarke spoke for most of the regular rezzies lads, saying that
it was good to be playing again, after a five week lay off to
the reserve programme. Clarke who is finding his first team chances
limited with the form of Unsey, Stubbsy, and still in the wings
are Joey Yobo, and Davey Weir, will be delighted just to be playing
again.
Clarkey
says : "It’s good to be back playing again. The
fact that we haven’t had a game for five weeks is very hard work.
Everyone just wants to play, but unfortunately, you can’t. You
want to be playing games regularly and playing well. I love the
game, I love to play, but you also want to show people what you
can do and get consistency and form under your belt. You always
want to progress. " (15/01/04)

Davey
Moyes commented today on the future of talented Everton youngster
Peter Clarke. After impressing in last week Englands U21 defeat
by Portugal at Goodison,Clarkey has been gaining a following of
First Division Managers who are showing a keen interest in him.A
host of scouts from over the country were on hand last night to
see him put in another solid performance in the Reserves 3-O victory
over Man. City. With stiff competition in the First Team ahead
of him, teams have been alerted to his quality, and also that Moysey
loaned him out to Port Vale last season.
Moysey
says :"Peter has had spells on loan but that doesn't
mean we are trying to offload him. I'm not keen to see any of
my young players leave. The way things are at the moment, we have
Alan Stubbs, Joseph Yobo, David Weir and Peter. Centre half is
his position and I would have no qualms about using him there. As
a manager of a football club, I have a responsibility to get footballers
playing first-team matches, in a first team if at all possible,
and if that means players going on loan, then so be it."

Impressed
Peter
Clarke was candidate for man of the match for England U21's in
the 2-1 defeat by Portugal last night.
Moyesy says: “I thought he did well last night and he
did well for us pre-season. The way things are at the moment we
have Alan Stubbs, David Weir, Joseph Yobo and Peter. Centre-half
is his position and I would have no qualms whatsoever about using
him there. He has had spells on-loan but that doesn’t mean we
are trying to offload him. I am not keen to see any of our young
players leave. But as a manager of a football club I have a responsibility
to get footballers playing football matches, in a first team,
if possible, and if that means going out on-loan then so be it.
We see him play in that position for the reserves all the time
and in training every day, so we know what he can do there.” (10/09/03)

Up
Clarkey
has kept his place to face Macedonia on Friday and Portugal on

Night
Not
a good night for our young centre half, Clarkey was brought off
in the 3-0 defeat by Croatia. (20/08/03)

Clarkey
has been named in the England Under-21 squad to play Croatia at
West Ham's Upton Park on Tuesday 19th August 2003. (17/08/03)
Clarkey
To Vale?
Peter
has admitted that he would rather play in a lower division rather
than in the Reserves for Everton this season.
Clarkey
said: "Ideally I would like to play in Everton's
first team, but that might not be the case. If
I wasn't in the first-team picture at Everton, playing in the
first team in a lower division is better than being in the reserves.
To come back to Port Vale would be good. I think going out on
loan is good for any young player."(15/07/03)
