Scot
Gemmill is to return to Goodison from Preston, as the Lancashire
club look likely to miss out on the play offs. Gemmill who is
also injured, with bad ligament damage will return to Goodison
immediately. The likeable Scot who is out of contract this Summer,
looks like he has kicked his last ball for this season.
Preston
Gaffer Craig Brown says: ''Scot has quite a nasty knee
ligament injury which could keep him out of action for up to two
weeks. I have spoken to David Moyes about it and I feel bad as
I am sending him back injured.'' (14/04/04)
Scared
to Death
Preston
have said they will only renew Gemmill's loan deal for another
month if they get into the play offs. That looks unlikely. So
Scot could be without a club, as his contract is up at the end
of the season & will not be renewed at Everton.
Scot
says: "The bottom line is my name could be on the
list with probably 500 or 600 other professionals who are out
of contract in the summer. I have obviously thought about that
prospect and it scares me to death really. But, then, so too does
retirement from football and that is getting closer and closer."

Gemmill
Makes Preston Loan Debut
Scot
Gemmill made his debut today for Preston against Gillingham as
he started his loan stint at Deepdale. This looks to be the beginning
of the end for him as Moyesy looks towards his summer clear out,
let's face it - if Gemmill can't force his way into our midfield
then there is nothing down for him in the Premiership! He played
his today in North End's 0-0 draw with Gillingham, he got a good
write up and has hopefully found a home for himself. He always
tried and we wish him well, Good Luck Scot. (13/03/04)
Scot
On The Come Back Trail
Archie's
lad
is to begin full training with the Everton again after a nightmare
spell on the sidelines through injury. The Scotland international
is easing himself back into the fold gently after already seeing
one attempted comeback this term fail miserably. The 28-year-old
has not played yet this season due to a worrying thigh injury.(14/11/03)
Back
In Training
'Basil'
Rathbone gave Moyesy a little better news on the fitness front
today. Archie's Lad will he be fit , won't he be fit saga continued
with the Club Physio saying he was just about ready to return
to full training.
Mick
'Basil' Rathbone says:
Scot’s doing well. He was back in full training after six weeks.
He did a lot of kicking one day and he felt a minor twinge. We’re
being ultra, ultra cautious with it so he’s just come back with
us for a week or so, done some more strengthening and stuff and
he’s virtually ready to return to full training. (09/10/03)
Scott
Setback
Scott
Gemmill today suffered a recurrence of his thigh strain in training.
He had resumed full training earlier in the week, but broke down
to put his return to action back by three to four weeks.
(26/09/03)
Archie's
Lad On The Mend
Scot
Gemmill should return to full training this week, after his month
plus lay off with a torn thigh muscle. The aim for Gemmill is
to be fit to face the shite reserves in next weeks Mini Derby.
After his long lay off it is difficult to see a way for Archie's
lad to break into the Blues First Team, with our midfield performing
so well, NOT. (22/09/03)
Out
for Up To 6 Weeks
After
tearing a muscle in his thigh whilst training, Scot could be out
for up to 6 weeks.
Scot
says: “I was hoping to finish pre-season to give me a
good foundation for the rest of the season; I just failed at the
last hurdle really. In the last big test, I pulled my thigh muscle
and I’ll probably be out for six weeks although I could be back
in four, which is the minimum for this injury. I was hoping to
push for a place in the team and it’s a major setback for myself.
If the team get off to a good start, it’ll be even harder for
me to get back. Most professional footballers get a lot of confidence
knowing that they’ve come through pre-season and in a way I could
claim to have done it, because we’re virtually there now, but
I’m not fit for the start of the season - and it’s quite sore
right now,” (12/08/03)
Excited
Scot
is determined to play more than the 12 games he played last year
and thinks that Europe is a genuine target this year.
Scot
said: “I
think all you can ask for is a level playing field. The manager
seems to be honest with everybody and picks his team fairly. It
is basically up to the individual to see what you can do to try
and get into the team. The season is only a couple of weeks away
and everyone is starting to feel excited. I only played a dozen
games last year but it’s a fresh start and I am determined to
get into the team.
I think everybody knows the expectation levels have gone up since
doing very well last year. We wouldn’t be being fair to ourselves
if we didn’t raise the bar this time around. Last year we tentatively
spoke about Europe, this time it's a real possibility.(31/07/03)
