Simmo Looks Elsewhere Steve Simonsen has turned down a one year extension to his contract, in his search to find a club that can offer him first team football. Simmo who has found himself third choice this season, know's that his chances are very limited with the form of Super Nige, and the return to fitness of Dickie Wright. Simmo who signed for the Blues in the Summer of 1998, for a then record fee for a keeper of £3.3 million, has not really set the world on fire in his time at Goodison. Simmo
says: "I’ve just played the one first-team game and a
handful of reserve team games, but you’ve got to take every chance to
play that’s offered to you. Hopefully, there are people out there watching.
I’ve turned down a one-year extension to my contract. I feel that the
time is right to move and I need to be out there playing first-team
football. I feel as though I wouldn’t be doing myself justice playing
in the reserves and just sitting around on the bench the odd time, that’s
just the way it is. Every professional footballer wants to play and
I’m no different. I came here as a very young lad and I’ve gained a
lot of useful experience, which will hopefully stand me in good stead
in the future."(21/02/04) Pasture's New ? Steve Simmo who is third choice keeper at the Blues, is making noises regarding a potential new contract, when his old one expires soon. Simmo who is also being pushed hard by eighteen year old Iain Turner may have to look to pastures new as it is the one position in which Everton have quality competition in depth. Simmo says: "People think I have been around for ten years or more but I am still only 24 and there is a lot of time left to go in my career. I'd like to be able to continue my career here at Everton but that is up to me.I am in the last year of my contract and I have to prove to the manager and the coaching staff through hard work that I deserve a new deal." (26/11/03) Simmo Injured Steve has injured a thigh muscle, & this could give Iain Turner his chance with Wrighty having an op tomorrow. (17/09/03) Moyesy Not Pleased Simmo has shot himself in the foot after not impressing the manager during the pre-season. He was all over the place at Preston. (04/08/03)
