At Last Wants To Stay
Unbelievable,
but Stevey Watto is bucking the trend, and is saying that he actually
wants to STAY at the Blues. Once news leaked
from the training camp, that a player actually wanted to stay
at the club, Moyesy stopped training immediately and threw a piss
up for the lads. Only one player missed the doo, he smells of
shite, and he is Canadian, any guesses.
Watto
says: "Ideally I would love to sign a new deal before
the season starts if that is possible but obviously I have to
wait to be asked, however, this is where I want to be. Even though
we have had a lot of ups and downs I have enjoyed my four years
very much. Everton is a fantastic club, it is a great place to
play and the supporters are top class.
I
am settled and my family is very happy down here, it is just down
to me to do enough during the pre-season and in the season to
prove to the manager I am worthy of another couple of years. It
is up to me.
In six months it becomes a time when you can talk to other clubs.
I never hoped it would come to that. But I am realistic. I am
30-years old, I have a family to look after and I am desperate
to know my future. I don’t like the thought that I could be out
of contract but my main focus at the moment is concentrating on
pre-season. I am in a situation where I will hopefully be in the
starting line-up for the first game of the season and it is up
to me to force the manager to give me a new deal.
I
am reading a lot of negatives about the club and I think it is
time to put all the negatives behind us and let's start getting
together. Everybody involved with Everton must pull together and
start getting their heads together for next season."

Down
But Not Out
There
was no one more disappointed at failing to pick up anything at
Newcastle, than Geordie Boy, Steve Watson. Watto who had a goal
disallowed, was heartened by the performance if not the result.
Apart from the four, shite, stupid, poor and amateurish goals
we let in, Watto believed that we did not do much wrong on the
day. Fuck me, where shall I start.
Watto
says : "It was a massive disappointment to lose
the game but that's as well as we have played in a long time.
I thought we created as many chances as we had done home or away
for a long time. Joseph hit the bar early in the second half,
Tomasz had a few offsides against him in the first and I scored
a goal, which wasn't offside. We have had a look at it on the
computer from every possible angle. I was onside or if not at
worst level when Tommy's crossed it. I was inches away from another
and then there were a couple of headers from Radz and Kev Kilbane,
so we had a load of chances. The difference was that when they
got their four chances they put them away.
I don't think the final scoreline reflected our performance though
there was one difference between the teams and it will be no surprise
to hear it was Shearer. I thought that we could have come away
from St James' with the points if it wasn't for Alan and though
I don't want to harp on about it, some bad errors from us for
their goals. To be fair we got it back to 3-2 and I think the
final goal was maybe because we had committed everybody forward,
so perhapsit should have ended up like that. But as I say we are
massively disappointed after the way we played and I think we
can take a lot of heart out of the performance but obviously not
the result." (05/04/04)
Be
Positive
Despite
being 3-1 with 10 minutes to go, Wato says we must look at the
positives to come out of the 3-3 draw with Southampton.
Steve
says: "It's very hard to look at the positives after
that result, but we have to. We were terrible at Birmingham in
our last away game and we owed the away fans for that. We played
much better this time, we scored three away from home and Wayne
was sensational. Before the game I think we would have taken
a 3-3 draw at Southampton but the way the game went we should
have taken all three points. But we have a lot of winnable games
coming up now and if we continue to play like that the results
will come." (22/03/04)
Fill
Yer Boots Stevey
Steve
Watson made a timely return to action last night, ahead of Sunday's
crucial Cup encounter with Fulham. Watto scored the equaliser,
and set up the winner in the rezzies win away to Manchester
United. Steve is surely going to be added to Moyesy
squad for Fulham, as he is one of the few with a bit of creativity
in his boots, and an eye for goal as well. Watto is still one
of the three top scorers this season at the club, despite being
sat on his arse recuperating for the last few months. Get him
in I say. (23/01/04)
Pissed
Off
Bluekipper.com
starman for 2002/03 Steve Watson is absolutely pissed off, that
he has not been playing. Watto who has bagged five Premiership
goals for the Blues this season, despite being injured for most
of it, is now not far away from first team action.
Stevey
Watto says : " Some players can be their own worst
enemies by pushing too quickly to come back. That’s definitely
what I’ve done with the thigh injury. With the hernia I got back
as quickly as I could and I didn’t feel anything, so the biggest
frustration was thinking I’d got over it and then injuring something
completely different. I got a dead leg in the reserves and I knew
I had a chance of playing against Portsmouth so I just played
it down and limped round in training for a couple of days. That’s
what’s given me a thigh strain so, as I say, it was my eagerness
to get back but then again I suppose some would say that’s not
a bad thing really. Nobody likes watching their team mates. Nobody
likes being out injured and watching the lads play. If everybody’s
as bad as me when they’re watching, then people like Duncan Ferguson,
who’s been out with terrible injuries for massive amounts of time…well
mentally I don’t know how he gets on with it because I’m just
at the end of my tether now." (20/01/04)
In
Contention
Steve
Watson, Everton's top scorer, even though he has missed half the
season, knew ten minutes before kick off, that his injured thigh
still was not quite right. As the team sheets had already gone
in, there was nothing he could do about it, except give it a whirl.
Luckily he did go off, and you know who came on to score the winner.
Watto reckons though, with a bit of rest he should be in contention
for Saturdays home match versus Leicester.
Watto
says: "I played in the reserves on Tuesday and just
received a dead leg, which was really sore, but it didn’t keep
me out of training on Thursday or Friday but I was limping quite
heavily on it. On Saturday I woke up feeling absolutely great,
obviously I was delighted that I’d be making my first start and
in the warm-up I felt my thigh a little bit lower down and it
felt a little bit worse, like a pull, and I went to strike a ball
right at the end of the warm-up and it went really badly. I told
the physio at ten to three. Obviously by then it was too late
to change the team round so he said, ‘Just give it a go.’ So I
gave it as best a go as I could but I was limping all round the
pitch really on Saturday so certainly it wasn’t the first game
I wanted. I think that out of all of this season I’ve been on
the pitch about twice maximum where I’ve felt fully fit so it’s
been a major disappointment. I thought I’d got the worst of it
out the way and I’d recovered as quickly as possible from the
hernia and touch wood I’ve had no reoccurrence of that. It’s not
a lengthy injury but it was enough to keep me out of the game
on Saturday. I don’t think I’ll be a million miles away for this
weekend but if not then certainly after that." (17/12/03)
Fit
Again
The
bluekipper.com player of the season for 2002/2003 played a full
90 minutes for the reserves
last night, and is hoping for a return to the 1st team squad
on Saturday when we travel to Portsmouth. We hope he is, as he
is still Everton's leading goalscorer with only 5 goals. We certainly
could do with a goal or two from him.
Stevie
says: “I think I was top scorer when I got injured. I'd
love to add to the five goals I got before I was out, but first
I’ve got to get back in the side and I took my first steps towards
doing that on Tuesday. I’m pleased to have played. I’ve trained
for a couple of weeks but there hasn’t been any reserve games.
I was pleased to get 90 minutes although I was feeling it a bit
at the end but I felt ok actually. I’m pleased to be back and
hopefully that will put me into contention for a place in the
squad on Saturday. Physically I felt ok but if you saw the way
I played maybe people would think twice about putting me straight
back into the first team.It was my first game out and the main
thing was getting the fitness and the fitness felt great."

Hernia
Op
Stevie
doesn't do things by halves. Hat-Trick one week, then a double
the next. This time it's a double hernia. This came as a complete
surprise. Some fans said that if they new the leading Goalscorer
was not playing, they could have gone on a bender. Wato will be
out for about 6 weeks.
Alan
Irvine says: “He’s had an operation today – a hernia
operation. He’s been having this particular problem for some time,
but he’s just played one game too many. We were hoping that Steve
would be OK for another couple of weeks, especially with the break
coming up, but he’s had the operation." (25/10/03)
Man
of The People's Club
Looking forward to the game against
his old club, Villa, Stevie says he prefers Merseyside to Brum.
Can't say I blame him!
Stevie
says: "Villa are a big club with a lot of history
but I never felt appreciated in Birmingham and neither did Alan
Thompson or Steve Stone, two other Geordies Everton, on the other
hand, is more like Newcastle. The Geordies and the Scousers are
alike anyway and we're a family club - more so than Liverpool
- the fans are fanatical, and they've taken to me. I'm a man of
the people and I'm as happy as I've been." (24/10/03)
Hat-Trick
Hero
Wato's
1st ever hat-trick for Everton came on the back of the manager
having a go about improving his game, & Steve himself wanting
to get rid of the Mr Versatile tag. The goals have certainly helped.
Steve is also very happy with there being so many strikers at
the club now.
Stevie
says: "I know I hadn't played as well over the last
couple of games and the gaffer just sort of mentioned it at the
right time and I knew I had to perform. At the end of the day,
if you don't perform at this club, you're out of the side, so
I knew I had to give an improved performance. I felt brilliant
in the first half, the best I have felt in a long time, so my
injury problems obviously seem to be getting better all the time."
"It's
great to see Duncan back to fitness. He's a massive handful for
anybody and although Tomasz Radzinski didn't score against Leeds,
his running off the ball and work-rate was amazing again. We've
got Wayne fully fit on the bench, and we've got Kevin Campbell
getting back to full fitness now. Nick
Chadwick scored in midweek, Franny Jeffers is back at the club,
so the striking department is looking good, and if we can keep
chipping in with goals from midfield, it's obviously going to
help." (29/09/03)
Mr
Versatile, My Arse
Wato wants to be known as a midfield
player, who scores goals, instead of a utility player.
Stevie
says: "The Mr Versatile tag really annoys me, having
such a label is not always a good thing. But I admit that I am
enjoying my game much more these days playing in midfield.'' (27/09/03)
2
IN 2
It
has been an impressive start to this season for Blue Kipper's
Star Man for last season, not only for his goals but his overall
performances. His work rate and his never say die attitude has
made him into a firm fans favorite. Steve has the midfielder's
have got to carry on scoring to take the strain from the strikers.
Please carry on Stevie and make it 3 in 3 against the shite.
Wato
said: "We have all felt that we relied on the strikers
far too much last season.And
in these opening games we have tried to spread them around a bit.
More of our goals have come from defenders or midfielders. We are
scoring from different areas of the pitch and that takes the weight
off the strikers."(29/08/03)
Looking
Good
Steve
Watson is looking forward to the Arsenal game, & believes
that despite the lack of signings, Everton will still do well
this season.
Wato
says: "You just have to look at the quality Arsenal
have got in their squad. They have got some unbelievable players.
I think Viera is probably in the top three midfielders in the
world, Henry probably one of the top three strikers and they have
got so much quality around them. They haven't spent a lot this
pre-season, they didn't need to when you look at the players they
have already got there.
You
know you are never happy with what you have. I think if you say
that then there is something wrong, but I have got a lot of belief
in my players. They are a good bunch of lads to work with, they
have done extremely well since I came here and I don't see any
reason why they shouldn't do well again this season."

Play
for the Shirt
Stevie
Wat has urged the team to start getting their act together and
Sundays game against Bologna is the perfect time to start
Stevie
said: "Now it is time to really start raising our
game. It is our last competitive game before the start of the
new season against Bologna on Sunday and there is no question
that we are all playing for our shirts now.
No-one is assured of a place against Arsenal that's for sure.
We've all got to stand up and be counted and show we deserve a
place in that team. We still have the same collection of players
that should have taken the club into Europe last season and our
realistic aim for the new season is to go one better. We don't
believe that this season is all about consolidation, we believe
it is about improving and finishing higher than last season's
seventh place."(07/08/03)
Get
Forward
Stevie
Watson is determined to get forward as much as he can. The more
chances he gets the more goals he will score. The Dundee game
was frustrating but Steve still managed a few efforts even though
he was on for the last 30 minutes.
Stevie
said: "From my own point of view, I got half an
hour or so and I managed to get a few efforts on goal which is
pleasing because I've missed a couple of days training this week.
I still feel there's a lot more to come from me and there’s a
lot more goals to come.
In every game I play in now, I'm trying to get forward a lot more
and get more chances which to a certain extent I did tonight and
hopefully I'll get the opportunity to do so on Saturday."
