| Grav Is Ready Everton coach Alan Irvine has promised Denmark that Tommy Grav will be raring to go in this years Euro Championships. The Grav who has played in the bulk of this season's games for the Blues, has been battling with injury in the latter part of the season, but it appears now that he his fit for the forthcoming Tournament. Alan Irvine says: "People talk about how demanding our league is and there is no doubt the players will not be as fresh as they would like, but nobody can do anything about that. The players going to the Championships may be tired now but when the Championships come around, I am the lads will be raring to go." (24/05/04) Wait and See Tommy won't sign a new contract until he sees who comes in during the summer. David Moyes says: "Tommy has told me he will sign for Everton, but he wants to see that he will be involved in a squad capable of challenging for Europe. I support him in a lot of ways and will be trying to make signings that will help convince Tommy to stay. "I'm intent on making changes and I certainly won't be accepting what was given by the players over the weekend. I wasn't even happy finishing seventh last year. "This club should be challenging for Europe and involved in Europe. Maybe the players were happy to settle for seventh and are happy we have maintained our Premiership status this year, but I am far from content."(17/05/04) Out for the Season Tommy is out for the rest of the season. His knee injury will keep him out of our last 3 games, unless he makes a miraculous recovery. He may make the Man City game. Physio Basil says: "Tommy had a scan on his knee this morning and it confirmed our clinical diagnosis that he has sprained medial ligaments. Therefore with only three games left to play, it is unlikely that he will be involved again this season." (26/04/04) Knee Problem Tommy
will have a scan to see the extent of the problem on his injured knee.
Tommy was in top form on Saturday, but was forced to leave the game after
only 20minutes. We certainly missed him. Tommy has sprained medial ligaments.
A sore knee to you and me. He has withdrawn from the Denmark squad to
play in a friendly against Scotland in midweek. The injury could rule
him out for the rest of the season Keep It Up Tommy According to Moyesy, The Grav is hitting top form just when we need it most. The Grav, is being backed by Moyesy to fill in the void, left by our two big names up front, who are banned for this Friday's clash against Spurs. Moyesy says: "I watched him for Denmark against Spain last week and he was probably the most polished midfield player on show. His form at times has been erratic but he is a terrific player and is beginning to mature. He still does things that drive me mad but he has got things about him, which are excellent and we are continuing to improve the failings in his game. He is the last off the training ground every day and he is always practising his finishing. He should score more goals but they will come. We rely on him a lot. I think Tommy has been an influential player ever since I came here and he is becoming more consistent."(07/04/04) New Contract Tommy should sign a contract soon to end all the speculation about his future. He has just over one year left on his contract and David Moyes wants to keep him at Everton. Moyesy says: "Thomas knows the situation. We have spoken about what will happen and it is not a problem."(04/04/04) Here To Stay Love him or loathe him, but it looks like The Grave Digger is here to stay, in the immediate future. Gravesen who is currently away on International duty with Denmark is attracting attention from his old club SV Hamburg. SV's coach Ralf Zumdick (honest, I'm not taking the piss), was at Goodison to see Tommy perform badly, along with the rest of the first team, against Boro' last weekend. Grav has another fifteen months left on his contract, and Moyesy in a long winded statement said, that Tommy is here to stay. Moyesy says: "Thomas Gravesen is going nowhere." (30/03/04) Let Battle Commence Tommy Grav has had the challenge laid down to him by manager Davey Moyes. Moyesy was impressed with the way the midfield handled the challenge of Pompey last weekend, and he is telling the Danish headbanger, that he may have a battle on his hands to reclaim his place. Me thinks a few mind games are being played here. Moyesy says: "I think Toby and Alex both did well in the game. I can’t fault them. They stuck at their task when the game wasn’t too pretty at times. I thought those two in the end won their individual battles in the middle of the park so that holds well. It’s great that we took three points because Portsmouth aren’t as bad a side as what a lot of people make them out to be. They’ve had some decent results lately so I was delighted to have got the three points. We were disappointed to miss Tommy, and I think he’s an influence in the way we play. But we’ve now seen that those two can come in and do a job so it’s up to Tommy to try and get himself back in the team now." (19/03/04) The enigma that is Tommy Grav has won Everton's OPTA Player of the month for February. The Grav who scored a wonder goal for the Blues in their first Premiership win of 2004, against Villa at the weekend, pipped Killa Kilbane to the award. Tommy who along with Killa played in all of Everton's games' in February, has won a free hair cut, shampoo, and blow and dry from that great Scouse character, and hairdresser Herbert. (03/03/04) The Grav
misses the Portsmouth game after picking up his fifth booking against
Villa. This will be a blow to Moysey and Everton who saw Tommy put in
a match winning 2nd half performance on Saturday. When he is back Moysey
will be expecting the Gravedigger to improve his goal scoring record. Tommy's Brother We argue about Tommy more than any other player for years. There was a hell of a ding dong at half time. There were quite a few Toffeemen who were not happy with Tommy's 1st half performance to the point of him being hopefully battered by Moysey so he wouldn't be able to come out the the 2nd half. On the other hand there were the more cultured Evertonians who wanted him to stay and be the match winner. So we're all happy with the outcome. But Moysey had to have a word with his kid at the break. Moysey said: ""There were two different players out there. Tommy's brother was out there in the first half, Tommy Gravesen in the second half. And yes, we did have a word at half-time. I don't want to see him now until the beginning of next week.(01/03/04) Tommy's a Non Starter It looks as if, the Blues will have to do without Tommy Grav this weekend, as although his fitness is improving, Moyesy I doubt will take no chances with big games ahead. Moyesy says : "There’s not been much change in Tommy. He’s doing some light jogging and we’ll see how that progresses before the weekend. We’ll see if there’s any chance of him making it.2 (15/01/04) Slowly Does It Tommy Grav has stepped up his training on the comeback trail from injury, but still remains a major doubt for Saturday's visit of Charlton. The Blues midfielder who was injured against Norwich in the Cup, will not be rushed back, as lurking around the corner are matches against the Champions and the shite. Moyesy says: "He is doing okay and has started some light jogging confirmed to He is not back in full training just yet but he is starting to make progress with the injury and we will see how he goes over the next few days." (14/01/04) Your Staying Here Moyesy denied today that Tommy Grav is going anywhere, after reports linked the Danish midfielder with a move to Schalke in Germany's Bundesliga. The gaffer who has been singing the bald one's praises of late, after some eye catching displays over the Christmas period. Bluekipper.com tried to catch up with Tommy to see if their was any truth in the rumours, but we were told by a close friend that he was unavailable for comment, as he was down at the barbers. Moyesy says: I've just been told and I know nothing about it. I'm not keen to let anybody leave, certainly not Thomas. They wouldn't have enough money anyway." (09/01/04) One Of Europe's Best Moyesy is singing the praises of Tommy Grav, who is definitely having his best spell of form since joining the club from Hamburg, a couple of season's ago. Grav who went off injured at half time on Saturday with pat, patel tendo, patel tendon, a sore leg, is expected to be fit in time for our piss easy game against the Gooners on Wednesday. Moyesy says : "I think he is one of the best midfield players in Europe. Tommy is one of those players who at times gets a bit of criticism here, but I think on Saturday everybody could see the reasons why we play him. We know why we think he is a top quality midfield player. He showed it for Denmark against England a month or so back in the friendly international. He was the best midfield player on show and England had an awful lot of top quality players playing that day. What Tommy needs is a consistent level of performance like that, he made us tick in the first half on Saturday. Thomas now has to be the one who has to show that he is also a top player himself when he goes in against the big boys. He has his faults, we are never done telling him about them, but most good players have them. I am happy with Tommy. We enjoy having him here, he is a bit mad at times but we can put up with that if he can continue the level of performance he showed against Norwich. We need Thomas because he's got a bit of craft, a bit of creativity. We are not over endowed with that in the middle of the park so we need Thomas to be there and it was noticeable when he went off that we didn't quite have someone who could get his foot on the ball and make us play a little bit." (06/01/04) I'm H. A. P. P. Y. Love him or loathe him, but Tommy Grav is more than happy with life at Goodison Park. The bald Dane who is showing some decent form of late, has also added that he see's himself finishing his career off in his homeland, when he gets older and his hair starts falling out. The Grav says: "I am tremendously happy to play for Everton. I watch as much football as I possibly can and I am totally dedicated to my career. If I can stay abroad until I am 32 or 33 then my dream will be to finish my career in Denmark." (29/12/03) International Form @ Goodison Tommy finally produced his International form for Everton. We even made him the bluekipper.com Star Man. Instead of some wayward passing & some headless chicken runs. We saw some pinpoint crisp passes & some calculated probing runs. Lets hope that his time on the right wing is over & he continues to produce the goods from his central midfield roll. Moyesy says: "I think Thomas wanted to show everybody what a good player he is today. We have had to play him out of position lately because we have been short of players on the right but he has never complained about it and got on with the job. After his international performance last week for Denmark I told him it was about time he showed the public here at Everton just how good a player he is and he responded. Parts of his game were exceptional against Wolves. You could see by his attitude that he knew he had a lot to prove. I think he gained a lot of confidence from the game against England and he was the outstanding midfielder today. Thomas is a player with strange ideas sometimes and who needs a lot of talking to to get the message through. But he is understanding and very critical of himself." (24/11/03) Midfield General Tommy plays for Denmark in a 3-2 friendly win over England & again bosses the midfield. Setting up chances, not giving the ball away, an all round good performance. You owe us one on Saturday, Tommy. (17/11/03) Grav Can't Wait For England Tommy Grav is getting fired up for Denmark's meeting with England at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon. The Grav was part of the Danish team that were destroyed by England in the last 16 of the World Cup in Japan last year, and his corners were not much cop that day either. Tommy says: "I don't care whether we're playing England or anybody else, so we don't care if England change their whole team. We must polish our own game, develop further and give the new players a chance to see what the national team is all about. (13/11/03) Suspended Tommy Grav will be sitting out the first match of Euro 2004, after his sending off against Bosnia. Tommy says: "It was solely about qualifying in the match against Bosnia, and it's cost me a suspension, obviously it's frustrating but we can't do anything about it.We have so many good players in the team anyway, that it won't be a problem for the side." (21/10/03) Sent Off For Denmark Tommy helped Denmark qualify, but was sent off in the last minute for a second bookable offence, by our old friend Graham Poll. (12/10/03) Tommy the First It's
official. Tommy is the first 'foreigner' to play 100 games for Everton.
Out of Fulham Game Moyesy says: "Thomas's injury isn't as bad as we feared, but he will definitely miss tomorrow and Tuesday." Be back for the Derby then! (22/08/03) Injury Update There
may be a chance of Tommy playing on Saturday, after no lasting damage
was revealed on a scan. Injury Tommy limped off with a knee ligament injury after 50 minutes in a shitty friendly against Finland. This is a kick in the goolies for us because Tommy has looked really up for it this season. It is likley he will be out for 2 to 3 weeks. David Moyes said:"Thomas phoned us straight after the Denmark match, but we won't know the full extent of the injury until later today. At the moment we are really short. Central midfield is an area where we do have several players, but unfortunately two or three of them are injured at the moment."(21/08/03) Called Up Tommy has been called up for the friendly against Finland Wed 20th Aug in Copenhagen.(12/08/03) Good Form Tommy played well yesterday, setting up 2 of the goals. Lets hope that he continues with this form into the season. It seems likely that Moyesy will stick with Tommy & Toby as the central midfield pairing. Moyesy says: “Thomas was terrific and was probably the best player on the field in the first half. He made us tick and made things happen and he’s been hitting some really good form in pre-season and hopefully that continues into the season.” (11/08/03) Mr Hide Scores Again Tommy
scored again for Denmark. After another fine performance he smacked a
superb shot into the net to give his National side a 2-0 win over Luxembourg. Tommy Bosses The Middle The Gravedigger had his Mr. Hide hat on, when he bossed the midfield for Denmark in the derby game against Norway. Denmark went top of the group with a 1-0 victory. His form for his National team has been outstanding. If only he could transfer this form to his Dr. Jekyll performances he usually puts in for us. (08/06/03) |
