Antnee Joins Walsall After being released by Everton, Antnee has joined Walsall after impressing them on a loan spell. Paul Merson says: "I am really pleased. He is a good addition to the squad and if he can keep turning in performances like the ones he's produced for us over the last few games, he could go a long way. (19/05/05) Anthony Gerrard has gone out on loan until the rest of the season to Walsall. Good Luck Antnee Walsall boss Paul Merson says: "The lad is going to be a very good player.Coming from Everton you know that he will have a certain quality about him and will have been brought up in the correct way through their youth system." (24/03/05) Antony Gerrard has expressed his delight and shock at being named on the bench for last Saturdays defeat against Chelski. Gerrard who is a result of Everton's Academy, has been a regular in the rezzies for the past few seasons. If you don't know by now, he is also Steven Gerrard's cousin. I know what you are all thinking, if he is as good............., think it, don't say it. Antnee says: "I found out that I was going to be on the bench when I reported for the game at 1.30 pm on Saturday. The manager read my name out in the squad, so I was delighted. It came as a complete surprise to me. I was very nervous at first, but once the news had sunk in, I was fine. Leon Osman and Lee Carsley came up to me and wished me well when I was in the dressing room. They told me that if I got a chance to play then I should concentrate on my game and just do my best. But to be fair, most of the players congratulated me and said: ‘Good Luck.’ I was sitting on the bench watching the game, watching the play, watching how Chelsea were playing and delivering set pieces. I knew that I would only get on the pitch if one of our players was injured, but that didn’t happen. You never like to see your team-mates get injured, but you always want to play. My family were made up. My Mum and Dad were at the game and the rest of my family were watching it on television. It was great to see my name on a Premier League Teamsheet and also see it on Premiership Plus after the game." (15/02/05) The reserve defender has been struck down by the mumps. He will be out of action for about 3 weeks. (11/01/05) Antnee is back at Goodison after his loan spell at Accrington Stanley. He has also got over his injuries and hopes to put a run of games together for the rezzies and then to get in the first team squad. Antnee says: “Hopefully I can follow in the footsteps of Daniel Fox and get on the first team bench - that’s my next aim. If I keep playing well and keep impressing then hopefully I could get a shout in the coming weeks. I enjoyed the Notts Forest match. After last week’s defeat it was good that the team played well and we kept a clean sheet. The team worked really hard on the night. Nottingham Forest didn’t give us a minute’s piece. They closed us down straight away so there was a very fast pace to the match. think the time at Accrington Stanley has helped me. It’s given me more experience of playing against big, tough, physical men. To be honest the reserve league has only got a few of them, so it’s stood me in good stead to come back to Everton and impose myself on games a bit more.” (24/11/04) Promising youngster Anthony Gerrard, has been released from Southport Hospital, after treatment on his knee injury, which was sustained for the rezzies the other night. Basil however is keeping a close eye on the youngster, before sending him off for a further scan tomorrow, to assess the damage more. Fingers crossed son. Basil says: "He’s just got back from hospital. He had a hell of a bang on the knee and he’s not quite sure what he did. He was in a great deal of pain last night so the people at Southport hospital kept him under observation overnight. We’ve had a look at his knee, it doesn’t look particularly bad although I’m sure that he was in a great deal of discomfort so hopefully it’s not too serious. We’re just going to let him get home now and settle down. We’ll send him for an MR scan tomorrow and let the consultant have a look at it. I would say initially at the moment we’re half breathing a sigh of relief but you can never be totally sure until you’ve gone through all the investigations." (21/10/04) Accrington Stanley, Exactly Accrington manager John Coleman is set to sign Antnee on loan for a month. The 18-year-old, who has played just 15mins in a friendly at Sheffield Wed, will spend the week training with Stanley and sign in time for Saturday's game with Dagenham. There
is no truth in the rumour, that part of his contract will be to play for
the Old Roan on a Sunday, followed by singing on the Karaoke in The Valentine
Bar. Coleman wants Antnee to cover for Steve Halford, who is out for six
weeks with a broken bone in his leg. |
