Although Eddy Bosnar has not featured in any first team games this season, the Aussie is happy with the way his year at the Blues has gone. Bosnar who was brought in on a years deal from Austrian club Sturm Graz, is waiting anxiously to see what becomes of him this Summer. Eddy says: "When I arrived I knew it was going to be difficult. But because the team has done incredibly well this season, that’s made my goal of breaking through even more difficult to achieve. However, it’s been great to be a part of the club that has been doing so well. I’ve learnt an awful lot since I’ve been here, especially about the English game. It takes a while for foreigners to adapt to the English game and it took me about four months to find out exactly what it’s all about. Although I haven’t played Premiership football, I have been training every day with the guys and learnt a lot from the coaches and seen what I can and can’t do. I have a greater understanding of my strengths and weaknesses. My time here has been interrupted through injury and that’s been incredibly frustrating. I had a groin operation where I was out for about two months. I’ve also had problems with my ankle, so I have been unavailable for a large part of the season. But I am fully focused and committed to getting fit and I am looking forward to playing again. Then, we’ll wait and see what happens." (31/03/05) New boy Eddy Bosnar has reminded Moyesy of his presence. Eddy admits he is still learning, but he believes with his hard graft in training, Moyesy will eventually sit up and take notice. Eddy has resorted to dying his hair green, and he comes in dressed as Fizz out of the Tweenies, to catch Moyesy's eye. Eddy says: "I hope scoring has made David Moyes take notice. First and foremost I work hard in training day in and day out. I still know I’ve got a few things to learn. I probably made some mistakes last night that I shouldn’t have, errors that a first team player shouldn’t make. But I’m aware of that so I’m just looking to get better every game. The goal helps a lot in everything. Especially in training. I haven’t been in the first team squad yet for a game. The goal makes me a lot happier. If you keep working hard then you always get your chance. Last season I scored about eight or nine goals from free-kicks and to be honest it’s part of my game. Every year I usually score four or five goals. It’s a big part of my game and I look forward to more of the same." (13/10/04) Mini Derby Winner Eddy scored Everton's only goal in the 1-0 win over the shite in last night's mini derby played at Wrexham's Racecourse ground. The big Aussie had come with a reputation of a free kick expert and he proved it. Bosnar had just missed with a free kick. This time with a curling effort that just went wide with the keeper beaten. Big Eddie lined up another freekick just over twenty yards out. He drove it low to the keeper's left and it flew into the bottom corner. 1-0 to Everton. (13/10/04) Eddy Bosnar is threatening Aussie team boss Frank Farina with changing his allegiance to Croatia, as he is not getting a look in with the Soccerroo's. Bossie who is yet to start for Australia, is eligible for the Croats, with a link to some neighbour in Melbourne, mates, Auntie's, Uncle's, Grans friend from the 1940's. Bossy says: "My parents are also Croatian and I have a Croatian passport, so it is another option that is currently open to me. I have put my international career on hold for a while. There are a few reasons, one of which is that I was in the squad originally, then I got a text saying that I would be omitted. It was said I was not fit enough to play, as I haven't been playing regularly enough, which I don't agree with. Some of the players who Frank Farina has called up are from the lower leagues and even if I don't play in the first-team here, it shouldn't make much of a difference." (05/10/04) Everton rezzie and Aussie International Eddy Bosnar, is refusing to play for his country whilst boss Frank Farina is in charge. Bossy's stance is down to the fact that he learnt he was not in the recently announced squad via a text message. Farina's reply to Eddie's broadside, was at least it was a picture message he sent to Eddy, and they do cost a few bob. Eddy says: "How can I respect a manager when he hasn't spoken two words to me? I have only seen him once in Sydney and the next time I saw him in camp he only said two words to me. I don't think any of them (the Socceroos players) have respect for Frank. I think that is a big problem. I don't wish anybody any ill will and I don't wish he gets the sack, but if I were him I would resign, to be honest." (30/09/04) Settling In Eddy now an Everton player after impressing on the Austrian Training Week, is hoping to get a game against Real Sociedad. “In
the past seven days, I’ve travelled to Australia from Austria and I was
there for five days - three of which were spent on the move. I got here
on Tuesday morning, but didn’t get the clearance to play against Sheffield
Wednesday, but I think I’ll be able to play against Real Sociedad. Moyesy is taking a chance on Eddy Bosnar. the Sturm Graz defender who played recently for the Blues on their tour in Austria. Moyesy however is only bringing the twenty four year old in as cover, and has warned fans not to expect to see him much in the first team. Bosnar at present has no work permit, but Everton believe they can swing something through an uncle's brother, father in law, who lived next door to Eddie's Auntie in Australia. Moyesy says: "We are going to try and get him. He doesn't qualify for a work permit but there is a situation where you can qualify for a working permit if you come from Australia. We are going to bring him in for a year and because we are very short of players he will give me some added cover. But I have to let people know it is not a signing who will go into the first team. He has a lot of potential, he did well with us, though we didn't see a great deal of him but he'll come in, play for the reserves and we’ll see how it goes from there." (27/07/04) Eddy played the full 90 minutes for Everton in there opening friendly game at FK Zeleznik. He looked a 'steady eddie' in the defence. He came forward to hit a powerful free kick from 30 yards out, but it went wide. (16/07/04) Sturm Graz's centre half Eddy Bosnar, has joined up with the Everton squad at their Austrian training camp. Moyesy is running the rule over the player who is available on a free. Alan Irvine says: "This is an opportunity for us to have a look at the player. He is still contracted to Sturm Graz but we have been given permission to look at him. He is a big tall centre half and a bit ahead of our lads in terms of his fitness because Sturm Graz returned to training earlier than us." (13/07/04) |
