Jimmy thinks the pressure is on all the teams chasing Everton for the European spot. Jimbo says: “Obviously, we were disappointed after last week, but we’ve got to get on with it. Teams have had disappointments through the season and it is about how you react. We don’t want to have any regrets at the end of the season. I think an important part of my job is trying to pick the players up after we’ve had an upset. You go around the lads individually and try to lift them at different time, because any time after a derby defeat is a difficult one. But Andy Holden is exactly the same and Baz, so we all try and do our bit. We’ve had one or two blips, but even the top teams have had blips. Manchester United has theirs at the start, but they got over it. We have lost two games in succession and we want to win the next. I think if you look at the overall picture: we’re lying fourth, four points ahead, you would have gladly taken that at the start of the season. I think the pressure is on the other teams who are trying to catch us up. We just need that win as quickly as possible and I think that will start us off on another good run. Three points not only opens the gap up, but it gives you confidence. It’s another game gone and another boost for the fans, players and club. We want to be rewarded for how well we’ve done this season. The players have made a massive effort. The manager has tinkered with one or two things and it’s come off.” (29/03/05) |
