Super Kev has thanked all the fans for the support they gave him in his time at Goodison. Super who left last week to join relegation strugglers West Brom will be fondly remembered for his flurry of goals that kept us in the Premiership, at the end of the 1999 season. Also we can thank Super for one of our favourite songs, after his fourth minute winner at Analfield, spurned the classic, ' Who put the ball in the red shite net, Super Kevin Campbell'. Well played Super and good luck in the future. Super says: "The fans were brilliant to me and if I could thank them all personally, I would! Hopefully, they’ll get this message I haven’t got one bad word to say about Everton, the club or the supporters. I cherished my time there and although it has come to an end, I’d like to count on Evertonians as my friends and if you see me in and around Liverpool, do come up and say ‘Hello. There’s a big part of me still at Goodison Park. I was disappointed to leave, but I wasn’t playing and obviously any footballer wants to play the game. I love the team and the club; there’s a great set of lads there, but sitting out on the edge of things wasn’t good for myself, so I had to make the decision. Everton is a special club. I’m not just saying that. I know that. I have had the privilege to play for quite a few special clubs over the years, but Everton are right up there It’s a fantastic club to play for, it’s got great support and everyone is so together. The staff at the club are second to none to be honest and I am missing everybody so much. But I had to put myself first and try and get some games." (18/01/05) Super Smashing Pro David Moyes has no problem in putting Super into the mix if needed. Moyesy says:"Kevin has conducted himself magnificently while out of the side. He has always been the first to congratulate the players after a win. That cannot have always been easy for him because he wants to be out there playing himself. I’ve got absolutely no problems playing Kevin. He’s in good shape and he’s a good senior pro.” (01/01/05) Forgotten man Super Kevin Campbell has been reassured by Moyesy that he will have some part to play in Everton's quest for world domination. Super who has had little or no chance in breaking into the Everton set up, is still training hard according to Moyesy. Super has been Everton's top scorer in four of the last six seasons, but due to the form of Benty, and Leon, he has not made a start since August. Moyesy says: "We will need Kevin during the Christmas period. Things can change very quickly at that time of year and Kevin has been training really well. We are not in a hurry to do anything regarding Kevin's situation." (16/12/04) Super Kev, who is probably in his last season with the club, is being praised by Moyesy for his professionalism. Super who has not made any of the recent squads, has impressed his gaffer at the way he takes to training and his encouragement of the younger players, like Big Dunc, and Stubbsey, ha, ha. Moyesy says: "Kevin has been unfortunate to have been out of the 16-man squad for the last few games. But I would like to say that behind the scenes he has been a model professional and after every game he has been the first to congratulate the players. Sometimes that kind of thing can go unnoticed. It can be difficult for an experienced, older player to come to terms with a situation like that but Kevin has handled himself well. He knows that with the size of the squad we have right now there will be plenty of opportunities to play between now and the end of the season." (21/10/04) Super Kev has spelt out a warning to all Blues, that he is ready to accept fourth from bottom now. Maybe that is the sign of confidence within the squad, after yesterday's footballing lesson from the Champions. Realists may agree with Super, but I am sure the likes of Dixie, Ted and Mr. Catterick himself, will be turning in their graves after such comments after one fuckin' match. Kewright, Gregg, get it sorted, and Rooney either sign or piss off. That's what me thinks anyway. Super
says: "If you were to offer me fourth from bottom now, I'd
take it. That means that we'll have another season in the Premiership.
I think that this season is going to be a long haul for us, but we know
what we have to do. We have to fight, scrap and pick up points. David Moyes is delighted with Kev's contribution so far this summer even though he is in his last year of his contract. David Moyes says: "Kevin has scored four goals this pre-season and was involved in the penalty that got us back into this game. He may be in the final year of his contract but there is no sign of him winding down. Quite the opposite in fact. He has worked and trained as hard as anyone this summer. He has given his all and more. Sometimes when you near the end of your playing days you realise just how good football is to you and it drives you on and if that is the case with Kevin then great."(09/08/04) Kevin Campbell is saying that one good thing that has come out of this Summers turmoil at Goodison, and it is that the players and the management are closer together and more focused on making this season as successful as they possibly can. Super says: "Everyone knows what we’re going through as a club but the players have to stay strong and stick together. The team spirit has kicked on since last season. We’ve had some heart to heart chats with the manager and we’re all on the same page now. Everyone knows what is expected and we all know what we want to do. It’s vital that we all stick together."
