Follically challenged midfielder Harry Hill, is warning potential new faces to Goodison, not to bother coming if they are going to carry any huge ego's with them. The spirit within Goodison is a huge part of the reason the Blues did so well this season, and Harry believes it is imperative that any new faces fit in with the squad togetherness. Harry says: "It is so important to maintain the spirit of this squad into next season. Obviously, the gaffer has got to add and bring people in, but he needs to get the right people. If he brings in anyone who is going to be a big head then that is not going to go down well here at all because the lads will not accept that. The biggest thing we have got is our team spirit and we have got to keep that. A lot of people say the gaffer takes his time over signings but it is crucial you know you are bringing the right people in and not just getting anyone because they are available. The manager doesn't work like that. He has got it spot on with the players he has brought in this season. They have all fitted in and enhanced the dressing room." (11/05/05) Harry Hill has put last night fantastic result on par with turning the shite over earlier in the season. He thought the fans were amazing last night, and wouldn't it be nice if we could generate the same atmosphere on Saturday dinner time against Brum. Harry Hill says: "The derby in December was a great atmosphere, especially in the way we won that game, but this game definitely was on a par. They were both massive games and massive results. The entire dressing room is buzzing. When we came in we could hear the fans still singing outside. It was a great night for us. The fans were fantastic from beginning to end." (21/04/05) David Moyes has been delighted with Harry Hill's performance all season and even more so after his reaction to being dropped for the Palace game. Moyesy says: “It was tough on Lee but he is an excellent professional. In fact, his comments when we named the side was that he was only interested in seeing us win the game, whoever I selected in the team. Lee has been great for us this season. He is definitely one of the unsung heroes. He has played in just about every game and he has been incredibly consistent. But he is also a great lad to have around the place as well.” (16/04/05) The Spirit Will Pull Us Though Harry Hill, who is having one of his best seasons, thinks Everton will pull together and succeed, despite the loss of his Look-a-like, Tommy Gravesen. Harry says: “You miss your good players but I think Thomas Gravesen will turn out to be a big loss. He was a goalscorer. I’m just hoping his tally won’t be missed in these last games. The important thing is that there have been a core of players who have made sure we didn’t fall into the same trap as last year. If you have eight or nine pulling in the right direction, it goes a long way. When that number starts falling, you hit trouble. The manager brought in Marcus Bent and Tim Cahill and they really bought into what we had. I’ve never known team spirit like it. All 20 of us are pulling in the right direction. For me last season was the worst I’d had. The team couldn’t get started. We knew we had let ourselves down and there was a lot of talking done. The manager spoke a lot and there were some harsh words from us as a group while we were in America. We are all desperate to finish well. I can honestly say that and because of all our hard work, we deserve to. But you don’t get anything unless you’re prepared to work. That’s been hammered into us by the gaffer. The manager won’t let us forget it. The supporters won’t either now we have a realistic chance. But most of all, the players don’t want to waste it. We have an opportunity, let’s see if we can take it.” (21/02/05) Lee Carsley who hobbled off at half time in yesterdays draw at Southampton, should be fit in time for the visit of League leaders Chelski to Goodison this weekend. Harry picked up a dead leg in the opening salvos off the contest, but by half time the pain grew unbearable for him. Fingers crossed the bald wonder will be back for Saturday's lunch time clash, and Super sleuth turned physio Basil Rathbone is working his magic on him. C'mon Baz. Basil says: "Lee’s dead leg was becoming really uncomfortable so we decided to take him off at half-time. He’s hobbling around but I think he’s got a decent chance of being available next week." (07/02/05) Harry Hill is asking his team mates to start setting targets for the rest of the season. Whilst Everton compound their critics with a seven point gap for the fourth Champions League spot, Harry is convinced that the Blues have it in them to hold out in the top four. Harry says: "I remember the season before last when we were in a similar position to where we are now. We were going into games like this building ourselves up by saying it was important not to lose. But we found ourselves losing too many of those games. Now we seem to have found a resilience where we are able to get something in big games when we need to get something. We haven't got the biggest squad so having so many games over Christmas didn't suit us. But we have got that period of the season behind us now. We have got 44 points with 15 games to play and we have got to start setting ourselves targets now. We will keep saying things like 'if we are still up there at the end of February, or if we are still there at the end of March'. But I think we have got more than enough ability in the team and the squad to finish up there. Things have gone that well this season that maybe people are saying 'how can Everton, with just 17 players, stay where they are?’ But we seem to have this knack of being at our strongest when people are writing us off and hopefully that will continue." (18/01/05) Harry Hill loves Christmas, as the games come thick and fast. Harry who has declined panto this year, due to Everton's heavy work load will still appear in a Boxing Day Special on ITV 2. Harry who has just recovered from injury will be OK over the festive period. He was taken to hospital after getting his smile surgically removed, after his derby winner. Ha, Ha, Come On You Blue Boys. Harry says: "I like it when there are a lot of games and it’s always better when you’re winning. It gives us a chance now to get a lot more points on the board. We’re a fit team so I don’t think the number of games in a short space of time will affect us much. It will be some achievement. We keep having to tell ourselves that we haven’t actually achieved anything at the minute. We’re in a great position, up until now we’ve had an exceptional season but it’s important that we keep it going. It’s definitely not time to be setting targets yet. The way we’re going at the minute, we’ve just got to keep looking at one game at a time." (20/12/04) Things just get better and better for Lee Carsley this season. Even though he spent the night in hospital having a redshite surgically removed from his arse pocket. Harry says: "This result means a lot to everyone. The fans and players are buzzing. It's a big day for us all. Everyone's waiting for us to fall over, but we have a great team spirit here at Everton, we've got some good lads here and everything's going really well.” (12/12/04) Man of the moment Harry Hill is putting down Everton's fighting qualities and resilience as the major factors for our great start this season. Harry who curled a superb free kick in yesterday to grab a point against the bar codes is convinced last season we would have been turned over after going one down. Can I start thinking of renewing my passport yet. Harry
says: "I think that we deserved a draw. They started well,
got the early goal, but we didn't collapse and that just goes to show
you how resilient we are. I think last season we may have struggled,
but we came here with a game plan and stuck at it. We knew it was going
to be difficult and we got our just rewards. End of Internationals for Harry Back in April Harry Hill told new Irish manager, Brian Kerr, that he wanted to spend more with his family, and didn't want to be considered for the forseeable future. He has now gone one better. Lee says: "At the time it wasn't a decision I took lightly or one I rushed into. I am still only 30, but one of the big things is when Kevin Kilbane and the rest of the lads are going away on international duty, I don't miss going. That probably means it is time to call it a day, not least because I think it is benefiting me here as well. I am not missing any training sessions and I am not getting up at silly hours to get planes back home after international games. Taking a break from international football has given me a chance to get the right kind of rest and do the right kind of training. But the training we do now when the international lads are away is pretty tough, so it is not as if we have a holiday." (18/11/04) Harry's Back, and Tiny's Happy Tiny Tim is delighted that his midfield mucker is back for tonight's live game at Birmingham. Harry who has been suspended for the last three games, will walk straight back into the Blues line up, and Tiny could not be happier. Tiny on Harry says: "We have definitely missed him loads, not least because you get used to playing in a certain system and I was used to having him there alongside me. Because he hasn't been around we have had to try different things. And the lads who have come in have all done a good job. But Lee is sorely missed because he is a character and he brings a different dimension in midfield. He is a witty, bubbly lad off the pitch and that helps in games as well. But the most important aspect of having Lee back is the physical presence he brings us. He puts himself about, he puts his foot in where it hurts and that is great. It is a part I like to play as well and when there are two players doing that it does unsettle sides. We work well as a team with him around. Maybe working hard to break up opposition play is something that can be overlooked. But it is important. We need to get a tempo going, we need to let the opposition know how we operate and when myself and Cars put ourselves about in the right manner it sets a good tone." (13/11/04) Harry Hill will now have some time to spend on his next TV Burp, as he will now miss the games against Aston Villa, Chelsea and Arsenal in the cup, due to him being sent off in last night's Carling Cup game against Preston. He will be sorely missed, having been Mr. Consistent in his midfield holding role this season. Moyesy
says: "It has proved costly for us, Lee isn't that type
of player but we will now lose him for three games, and that's not something
we can afford with our small squad so I am very disappointed in him. Everton's resident comic, and Lee Carsley look a like, Harry Hill is delighted at the tactics Moyesy has been using this season. Harry who sits in the midfield, whilst Tiny, Grav and Killa break up front is happy with Moyesy 4-1-4-1-4-1-1-4-1-5-1 formation. The secret seems to be that we have over twenty players on the pitch, and no one yet has cottoned onto it. Harry says: "Our tactics have been good. We’ve got Marcus up front, but all the midfielders, apart from myself, have the licence to get forward and score goals. So, therefore we’ve got five players who should all be getting forward into the box and making and scoring chances. It’s a position that really suits me. It’s where I played at Derby, where I believe I played some of the best football of my career so far. I really enjoy it and things are going well for me. But it’s more important that the team keeps winning, because you’ve got more chance of staying involved." (22/10/04) Everton centre half Davey Weir is citing Lee Carsley as one of the reasons that The Blues are doing so well this season. Harry Hill who sits deep in the midfield has been taking a bit of the work load off the back four, and according to Davey it has not gone unnoticed. Davey Weir says: "Lee does a great job in front of the back four and I would say that in my opinion he’s probably been our best player. He makes things easier for everyone else in the team. Every team needs unselfish players Lee. He works tirelessly - and a lot of his work perhaps goes unseen by the fans or the media, but we really appreciate it as his team-mates. He always does his best. But other players are doing well and helping the team. There have not been too many individuals who have won us games, but the team’s performances, our application and efforts have led to good results." (01/10/04) Moyesy reckons that Harry Hill's decision to step out of the International set up, is reaping rewards with his Goodison career. Lee told Irish boss Brian Kerr that he did not want to be considered for any future games, as he wanted to concentrate on his Everton form, of which we will all agree has been fantastic this season. Moyesy says: "His decision probably has helped him. He's worked hard this season and he is a good person to have around the club. He has done well since pre-season and we have been very pleased with his early form. He is probably also benefiting from us not having a lot of players in the squad right now. He’s played a lot of games on the bounce and you can see that in his form. He has done well defensively in midfield but he has great energy and has got himself forward as well, and he is capable of playing several different roles." (30/09/04) Unsung hero Lee Carsley has had Moyesy singing his praises. The Irish midfielder who is set to make his fiftieth appearance for the trickies this weekend, is playing out of his skin according to the gaffer. As a pressie, the boss has rewarded Lee with a hair and beauty pamper session at one of Merseyside's top Saloons. Moyesy says: "He's gone about his job quietly, but effectively. There are a few players in the side who maybe don't get as much praise as one or two others, but Lee is one who deserving of plenty at this present time. " (16/09/04) Lee Carsley returned to training today, after his full blooded collision with Shiiiiittteeehh's Scouse defender Joey Barton at the weekend. Everton physio Basil Rathbone, is happy that no serious damage was done, and hopefully the Irish International will be in contention for the weekend. Basil Rathbone says: "Lee seems okay after his collision with Joey Barton. He took a bit of a knock to his knee. We had a look at it on the video and it looked like two committed players going for the ball and thankfully it seems as though he’s suffered no further damage. I took a look at it on Sunday and although it’s quite badly bruised, he’s back in full training today, but of course, we’ll be keeping a close eye on him." (14/09/04) International Hold Up Everton's Lee Carsley has put his International career on hold for now, as he tries to re-establish himself in the Everton first team. Carsley who has seen himself slip down the pecking order at Goodison of late, was quick to dismiss bluekipper.com's claim, that he was considering an offer to appear as Harry Hill's stunt double in the comic's forthcoming new film. Carsley told us to get off his property, or he would call the police. Carsley says: "For the forseeable future I am not going to make myself available for the Republic of Ireland national team. I want to concentrate on Everton and re-establish myself here and if I am going to Ireland to play in international fixtures then I feel that I can't do it. I came to the decision about four-to-six months ago and it is only my family that have said 'No, keep going' but I can't keep doing it and by not making myself available it will give me more time to spend at home."
