For Clarkey
It
appears that Blackpool have signed Clarkey for £150,000.
Clarkey had left Goodison, in a loan deal, hoping to make his
move permanent. It now seems that Blackpool boss Colin Hendry
has made his move for the Former England U21 Centre Half.
Clarkey
says: "It has been really frustrating, the last
two years since I was here last. I have played nowhere near the
number of first team games I would have liked to have played for
whatever reason. I was aware of the interest from Blackpool and
the stumbling block was the fact Everton didn't really want to
let me go. From my point of view it was frustrating considering
the fact I wasn't playing but you have those times in football
and you have to get on with it and battle through it." (22/09/04)
Off
To The Seaside
Clarkey
has moved to Blackpool on a month's loan with a view to make the
move permanent. No fee will be involved. 22 year old Clarkey has
never quite made the step up from reserve football in the 14 times
he has played for the first team. (18/09/04)
Outstanding
Rezzie
boss Andy Holden was delighted with Peter Clarke's contribution
in last night's goalless draw against The Baggies. Clarkey who
has been handed the captaincy by Holden is currently on a short
term deal, as his contract ran out in the Summer.
Andy
Holden says: "I thought Peter Clarke was outstanding
on the night. He came up against Scott Dobie, who threatened us
on a couple of occasions, but Clarkey managed to stifle him. He
did well and I am very pleased for him because when he defends
and goes about things the right way, he’s very good to watch.
I gave him the captaincy because he leads by example and hopefully
if he stays here or goes to another club, people will realise
that he is a leader on the pitch." (18/08/04)
Chester
After Clarkey
Chester City have asked about Clarkey.
He has not signed a contract with The Toffees, so he is a free
agent. The 22 year old rejected one-year contract extension during
the summer. Clarkey is with the 1st team squad in U.S.A.
Chester Chairman Stephen Vaughan says: “We have
contacted Everton about Peter’s availability, and if we receive
a positive reaction we will take the matter further.” (27/07/04)
One
Year Deal
Clarkey
has not yet signed a one year deal offered from the club. He was
hoping for a longer contract. (20/05/04)
No
New Deal Yet
Peter
Clarke feels he may have played his last game for his beloved
Blues, after last night outing for the rezzies. Clarke who is
out of contract in the Summer, has yet to be approached by the
club regarding a new deal.
Clarkey
says: "I don't know what the plans are for me at
the end of the season. As things stand, that was my last game
for Everton. It's disappointing. I've spent 12 years at this club.
No one wants to leave a club such as Everton - and neither do
I. There's disappointment there, but you can't let your disappointment
rule you. You have to bounce back and fight on - and wherever
the next step may be for me, I'll take it and hopefully everything
will go well for me." (28/04/04)
