Harry Hill's appeal against his harsh red card last Saturday against Chelski has been upheld. Referee Knob Stlyes sent off the Irish midfielder after his clumsy tackle on Didier Drogba. While most observers of the game thought it was a definite yellow, referee Styles thought differently. Obviously the FA have backed their man, and not the Blues, now there is a surprise, tossers !! (20/04/06) Everton are to appeal against Harry Hill's sending off against Chelski yesterday. Moyesy was infuriated when Knob Styles sent off Harry, for what was a certain yellow card offence and no more. Styles has sent off five players this season, curiously enough, four of them dismissals have been when the opponents are you guessed it Chelski. Nuff said Big Keith says: "David felt the decision to send off Lee Carsley was unjustified and we fully support those sentiments. The management team have discussed at length the options open to the Club and we will be making our feelings known to the Football Association later today." (18/04/06) Harry Hill is determined to be part of the Republic's European Championship dreams, and add to his 29 caps under new boss Steve Staunton, but in the mean time Harry is just concentrating on getting fit and performing for the Blues. The midfielder come big collared comic genius, has fought his way back from an horrific knee injury, and he is determined to cement a place in the Everton line up, then target Ireland. Harry Hill says: "I have spoken to Steve Staunton and he knows my position, and he knows that at the minute Everton is my priority. I am just going to think about playing for Everton and having a good rest in the summer and then we will see what happens next season. If the call came I'd want to go, but I have only played one game for Everton." (12/04/06) Moyesy is giving no clues away, in respect to Harry Hill starting this weekends clash against the Skunks. Harry played an hour of last nights reserves defeat to manure, and Moyesy was there to watch his Irish International, but he is being coy about his full first team comeback date. Harry has come on for ten minutes in the last of Everton's two outings, and Moyesy for one will be happy with the comics progress, if not his shirt collars. Moyesy says: "Lee is getting closer and he played in the reserves last night but he's not quite at where we want him yet. But it's great to have him back around the squad. We need to have as many back in the squad as we can and we will need all the players in the final 12 games. We are now looking to build on that fantastic, morale boosting win over Blackburn. It's fantastic to be aiming for the top half of the table after the start that we had." (22/02/06) While the bulk of the first team squad was swanking around sunny Miami on their break, Cars was getting stuck into the redshite in the mini derby. With Phil Neville out of the Newcastle game suspended, Lee could slot in. Harry Hill says: "To play as many games as I did last year and then miss out on the Champions League was really difficult, but the lads have done brilliantly recently. Europe is a possibility and we are definitely good enough. It's all down to the gaffer now. He knows how fit I am and he'll decide what's best. It would be crazy to say that I'm ready to play a full 90 minutes but I don't think I'm too far off. I'm feeling all right at the minute. What I really need now is more training with the lads. I love playing with the reserves but you can tend to switch off sometimes and training offers that something different. The lads are really sharp and the sessions are always intense. That is what I need now more than games. I've had a couple of run-outs as a substitute and played 45 minutes for the reserves last week, then 60 minutes last night. There is a bit to work on, but nothing drastic. It's been a nightmare but I've been back around the squad for a couple of months, so things are getting better." (17/02/06) After a forty five minute run out for the rezzies, and a surprise last ten minutes for the first team in the last two days, Moyesy is urging caution about Harry Hill's return to the fold. Harry who has been out for around ten months with knee trouble was only brought on as Gary Nace who was coming on for Leon forgot his razor for a shave, not realising the clash was on the BBC. Moyesy says: "Lee played 45 minutes on Tuesday lunch time for the reserves and then went down to London with us. The intention was really just to get him back in the fray. I have to say he is weeks away from being about it but I was just about to put Gary Naysmith on when Leon Osman complained of having jarred his groin so I had to make a different change. It is great to have him back and we are looking forward to getting him back match fit but he has been out for the best part of seven or eight months and he has played one reserve game so we can't expect him to be back that quick." (09/02/06) Lee Carsley was back in full training this week. Lee has been out since the last game of last season against Bolton. Bazza Rathbone says: "Lee has been training with the lads but he has been out for a long time and it will take time to get back to 100%" (04/01/06) Lee has talked about his frustration at being injured during the Champions League campaign, only watching Everton live 3 times this season, and his hope of returning to International football. Lee
says: ‘It's been one of the most difficult times of my career.
I played 41 games last season to help us get into the Champions League
but now I know I may never play there in my career. It's been really
frustrating. I felt that I really had to play in the Fenerbahce friendly
at the time because it was make or break for me to get into the side
for the Champions League qualifiers.
I still believe we can turn things around though. The atmosphere at
the club is brilliant - that's never been a problem. I think we've always
been confident that it would be a matter of time before things turned
around. We started it off with a good draw against Chelsea and we've
had three victories since then. We can still get back up the table,
I mean look at the type of run Wigan have gone on. We can do the same. Everton have rewarded Lee for being injured and not playing a game this season with an extention of his contract until 2007. Harry joins Gary Naysmith as the second player to be given an extra few bob for not kicking a ball. Mind you he did score that goal against the shite. Lee Says: “I had originally been approached by the club towards the end of last season. However, there was a lot going on and we decided to leave any further discussion until the summer. Then, of course, the manager and the club were involved in a lot of other transfer business so, as there was no rush on my behalf, we waited again until things had settled down. Once myself and the boss sat down to discuss things, it was all done and dusted very quickly. I love it at Everton and always wanted to stay and the club made it clear that they wanted me here, so it was easy. The relationship I have with the fans is very important to me and they’ve been great to me. Obviously, I’m a bit frustrated at the moment but I’m focussed on getting back to full fitness and then fighting for my place in the team again.” (01/12/05) Harry Hill is making great progress and could be back sooner than expected. Mick Rathbone says: "Lee Carsley is making exceptionally good progress, as is Gary Naysmith. Those two guys have had a tortuous few months but again they are making massive strides forward all the time." (22/11/05) Harry
Hill could be back for in time to repeat what he did last season - score
the winner against the redshite Cars has been frustrated sitting
and watching the games this season. Last Day For "Carsley's Derby" Print Competition Harry Hill's has gone back under the quacks knife in a bid to heal his ligament problem once and for all. According to Basil the ligaments around the knee were not healing as quick as he would have liked. In a bid to remedy the problem, the midfielder went under the knife one more time. The op we are told was a success. The bad news though is it may be another six weeks till we see Harry again. Basil says: " I watched the surgery and it was very interesting actually because it showed up what we thought to be the case. For some reason the ligament had been repeatedly strained. It was healing; it wasn’t re-attaching itself back to the bone. So the surgeons literally pinned it back to the bone, sutured it and hopefully that is the end of it. We gave it time beyond the realms of reasonableness. We gave it so many opportunities but it wasn’t going to heal. We found that he was getting as close to finishing his rehabilitation as is possible. But in terms of kicking long, he couldn’t do it. Everything else he was fine with but it was putting stress on the ligament that he was unable to do. They are now talking six weeks and the surgeons are the experts. He is keen to get back but we can’t hurry the guy." (03/10/05) Back in full training, Everton's unsung hero over the last few seasons hopes to be ready for the Bucharest game next Thursday. Lets hope Lee's uncompromising play will rub off on the rest of the team. Harry says: "Hopefully I will be back in a week or two. I would like to be available for the Bucharest game. hope to resume full training and take it from there. I wouldn’t say I was a skilful midfielder, the sort to get on the ball and create chances. But people say I’m someone you would want in the team and I am happy with that.” (21/09/05) Everton's Irish midfielder Harry Hill is targeting a return to International football, when he has regained his fitness, and his place in the Everton line up. Harry who is 31, left the Irish set up, to concentrate on his Everton career, and his performances for the Blues were a revelation. As the song goes, 'hurry up Harry', and get fit again, as never mind your Country, your Team needs you. Harry says: "It’s been something I have been thinking about for a while. There is no point in ringing Brian tomorrow because I’m not fit. But as soon as I am playing again, I will be straight on the phone saying I want to be considered for Ireland squads. Despite what people might think, there was no bitterness between Brian and myself when I left the set-up, he told me I had to do what I thought was best. If Brian feels I am playing well enough and can add something to the squad, I am sure I will be in. I am in a totally different frame of mind to last year. I’d been travelling with Ireland for seven years, often without playing. It was getting to the stage where it felt like a routine rather than a thrill. Every player should feel honoured and excited when they are picked for their country’s squad. I wasn’t feeling like that so it was more honest to take a break from. The enthusiasm to be part of it is there again now. I have missed it to be honest, missed the other lads, missed the atmosphere of the matches. I know it’s up to me to make the first move and ring Brian and tell him how I feel about it now. There won’t be any strings at all. I won’t assume he will pick me and if I’m asked to travel with the squad and end up not playing, there won’t be any grumbles from me. I know some people might see me as a glory-hunter because we are approaching the World Cup but it’s not like that. I can tell everyone now I want to play in the Euro 2008 qualifying campaign even if we don’t reach the World Cup. People thought I had retired from international football but I always saw it as a break. And it’s not a decision I took lightly because I knew it would be hard to break back in with the quality of the rest of the squad, particularly in midfield." (20/09/05) Moyesy is looking forward to the end of September, as if everything goes well, it should herald the return of Harry Hill to first team action. Harry however will have competition for his place, with new boy Phil Neville performing so well, since his arrival from man ure. Great news though, as the push for places all over the squad hots up. Champions League 2006, the work starts now. Come on you Blues. Moyesy says: "We will be glad to have him back around the squad. He is a terrific character and he became someone last year who we relied on so much. The way he plays and what he gives the team sometimes went unnoticed but come the end of the season, the supporters really appreciated him. Obviously his goal against Liverpool turned him into a cult hero, but he is someone whom when we play him will do the best he can. He developed as the year went on. People will see now that we have got Phil Neville, who can do a similar job, so we have got competition. Cars will certainly be needed with the amount of games that we have got coming up." (06/09/05) Out For A Month Now Everton have signed a replacement, in Phil Neville, they have told us the full extent of Harry's injury. Lee Will be out for at least the next four weeks with a recurrence of a knee problem that required surgery at the end of last season. Physio Baz says: “We don’t now how long Lee will be out for exactly. He was tackled awkwardly during the game in Fenerbahce and has strained medial ligaments.” (05/08/05) Lee is out of the Udinese friendly, but is hoping to be fit for the Villareal game. Harry twisted his knee in Turkey. Baz says: “It was very unfortunate. He tangled legs and tweaked the inside of his knee. We will give it a few days to settle down and we musn’t be too despondent about it. But unfortunately after the type of injury Lee had over the summer you are always at risk of doing that and I am hoping it will settle down. It is settling down already and hopefully he wont be out for too much longer.” (03/08/05) Harry Hill is convinced that this season, can be as successful as the last. Harry enjoying the sun out in Thailand at the moment, is enjoying pre season, and according to the manic comic, the team spirit is better than ever. Harry says: "Last pre-season was fantastic from start to finish and it’s going the same way this pre-season too. The results in pre-season aren’t important, it’s getting fitness and forging a team spirit and making players like Simon and Per welcome. I think we went past the stage last season when people could say that we were over achieving because week after week we were getting results and a lot of that was down to the fact that we didn’t have one player that stood out. Week in week out we had seven or eight players that were playing to the best of their capabilities and there’s no reason why we cant do that again this season. We’ve proved that if we need to get results we can." (22/07/05) Harry Hill has not had much off a Summer off. Aswell as touring in Brighton with his one man Comedy Show, he has had to endure the solitude of Bellefield recovering from his last day injury at notloB. Lee can't wait for Friday, when all his mates will return to training, though he won't be able to join in much, as it will probably be another week till he is kicking a ball. Harry Hill says: "I have only had two weeks off. Apart from that I have been in at Bellefield running and doing weights. But I am just glad I didn’t miss any important games because the run-in last season was crucial for us. It was pretty much a standard injury. It was always going to take six weeks for the tear to repair so it was just a matter of filling in the gaps. I am running now but I have not done any kicking yet so I will probably be a week behind the lads when they come back. Obviously, I couldn’t play a game yet because I have not done any kicking or turning, but fitness-wise I am fine. And that is the kind of work we will be doing when the lads first come back. I have been with the physios and a few of the lads have been popping in so it hasn’t been lonely (at Bellefield). When you are injured you have got to be selfish and pretty much do your own thing, so it doesn’t matter who is about. When I went down I heard something pop and we thought it could have been the cruciate. When you hear something pop you fear the worst but the scan showed it wasn’t as serious as first thought. Baz was saying the noise could have just been the ligament coming away from the bone rather than it snapping. It was painful when it happened. After the game the squad was having a celebration with all the families for reaching the Champions League but I ended up sat in my apartment with Baz eating a pizza, so it was a bit of an anti-climax (to the season)!"
