All the women within the walls of Goodison were in floods of tears today as Moyesy announced that Sandro Pistone's contract would not be renewed this Summer. The Blues defender whose Goodison career was blighted by injury since his arrival back in 2000 made over 100 appearances for the Blues in a stop start career. (14/05/07) The whoops of delight heard around Goodison in the last few days, was not the staff opening up their Christmas bonuses, but the female staff hearing the news that Italian heart throb, cum left back 'Sandro Pistone is back in business. The Milan pin up has declared himself fit, but no doubt with Nuno and Nace contesting the left back berth, Moyesy will tread carefully with the returning Everton defender. Pisto says: "I don't know whether the gaffer wants to wait until I have played for the reserves but I am feeling really well now and if I am asked to play, I am ready to play. It's great to be back and I have been training now for about the past three weeks. I feel good and I feel the same as the other players. That has been frustrating but I have to say that every player who came into the full-back positions did really well. Lescott at left-back, Neville on the right and Simon Davies did really well on Boxing Day against Middlesbrough. But we are now coming back. I am coming back, so is Tony Hibbert and Gary Naysmith has played the last two games. The team is competitive and there are options for every position. It has been a long time and when I thought I was ready to be in contention again, something else happened. So it has been frustrating, as it always is when you are injured. The most important thing is to have the support of everyone at the club and that you have the feeling that you are still a part of the team." (29/12/06) Sandro Pistone is trying hard to put twelve months of an injury nightmare behind him, and get some matches under his belt in the USA, next week. Pisto who was stretchered off against notloB, in the early part of last season, will face stiff competition for his left back berth, with the form of Nuno Valente. Pisto says: "The plan is to start playing in America. Because we don't want to force the way back. We still have plenty of time and it is probably wise to be sure that everything is fine. I have been working during the summer and I am fine now so that is what is important now. At this stage what you are looking at is to get at the maximum level of fitness. Every start of the season is a new start. I defintitely don't want a season like I had last year, I am looking for a season like the one two seasons ago." (21/07/06)
