Anderson de Silva looks like staying round Goodison a bit longer after Moyesy opened discussions with the Brazilian. Moyesy needs faces for next season with the prospect of a long run in Europe, as well as battling on three domestic fronts. De Silva who has been used sparingly since his return from Spain in January will no doubt be used more in the coming season, as Moyesy utilises his Squad to the full. Moyesy says: "We are talking with Anderson de Silva about the possibility of him staying on with us a little bit longer." (15/05/07) Anderson De Silva, or Ando to his mates, was welcomed to Goodison today by Bully Beef himself. Through an interpreter we could just make out what Bully Beef was saying, but Ando was clear as a bell. He likens himself to a Patrick Vieira or a Didier Deschamps, and that will do for me. Ando if you are a quarter as good as the French midfielder's, we may have picked a winner. Ando says: "I am very happy to be here and now I have six months to show what I can do and I hope to be here a lot longer. I know I have the opportunity to show I am a good player and have a good career here. I know some of the players from my previous time here and the players have been good to me. I like the city a lot - it is not as sunny as Brazil but I like it! I have always bean a big fan of English football and you can see it a lot in Brazil. I liked how Patrick Vieira and Didier Deschamps played." (03/07/06) Moyesy is going to look at Ando while in training and also playing matches for the reserves during his 6 month contract. He will then make a decision to extend it our let the Brazilian midfielder go. Moyesy says: "Anderson has come in and he will come here for six months so we can have a look at him. We looked at him a while ago and looking to bring him in but we were at a different moment then, vying for the Champions League and looking to make additions. "He came in and did well in training. He has now been away for over a year so we are having to get back and see where we are. As a team we have moved on but Anderson is coming here to show what he can do. We don't want to dampen expectations and I do not want to put Anderson down but he is coming here to play his way through training, the reserves and then we will see if he is capable. If not, then at the end of the six months we will not extend the contract. "But hopefully he will prove he is and if so then we will extend it. If I feel he is good enough for the first team he will get a chance this season." (28/12/06) |
