What a way to mark your return from injury. Faddy who said weeks ago that he had a part to play in Everton's European push, sealed the points for the Blues with a last gasp winner against Charlton, and what a winner it was. If a Brazilian had scored it, we would be waxing lyrical for weeks about it, get it Brazilian, waxing, I'm off then. !! Faddy says: "It was a good goal but the most important thing was that it was a winning goal and it keeps us on the march and it moved us up a position and hopefully we can maintain that level of performance and obviously the run of results that we have been getting throughout the run in. You practice it in training so when it comes in a game it comes naturally to you. I saw the boy closing me down and I thought to myself, if I shoot, he may block it, so I flicked it over him and thankfully I've nestled it in the bottom corner. It was a great goal and I was very pleased with it."I was just pleased to get the result and obviously it is nice to get the winner. It was a good day and hopefully there will be more of them. " (16/04/07) Evertonians can stop singing the old Martha & The Vandellas hit, "Jimmy, Jimmy, oh Jimmy Mac, when are you coming back?" because the brace scoring reserve should be back soon. Jimmy Mac says: "My foot is all right and it is good to be back playing. Now I want to be involved in the race to get into the UEFA Cup. The rehabilitation went as well as can be expected and we gave it an extra week to make sure everything was all right and it has paid off because it feels great. I didn't imagine that I would feel this good so soon, so it is up to the manager. We have got a lot of games coming up and hopefully I can get back in sooner rather than later, but I maybe need another couple of reserve games. We have got this push for European football and hopefully I can be a part of that." (06/04/07) Moyesy was delighted at Jimmy Macs scoring return for the rezzies win against the Skunks last night. With seven games to go, and Europe still a definite, Moyesy will be over the proverbial moon that he has another striker at his disposal for the run in. Moyesy says: He did well and we’re pleased to see him up and running again because we want to get him back among the squad. The 90 minutes last night will have done him the world of good. We do not have to put pressure on him to bring him straight back into the starting line-up as we are not desperate at the moment but his versatility means he will be a useful as he gives us options up front and on the wing. We are delighted he managed to get a full game as his match fitness won’t be anywhere near what it should be. We can now start to think about having him around the squad for the big games we have got coming up on Friday and Monday." (04/04/07) Faddy is back in training and could be back in the squad for the last few games of the season. Baz says: "James has actually joined in training for the first time. He is doing ever so well, the x-rays are fine and the consultant is very happy with him. We have done everything in the last three weeks and he was able to join in full training today. James has been quite a good patient and you know the speed you can go at. Most players coming back from that type of injury don't want to push too hard because of its nature." (02/04/07) Jimmy Mac could yet have a part to play in Everton's push for Europe this season. The Scottish forward has surprised everyone with the speed of his recovery from a broken bone in his foot. Assistant Boss Alan Irvine is giving Faddy an outside chance of making the squad for the match against Villa on Monday week. Alan Irvine says: "Faddy is doing really well at the minute and that is pleasing to see. Though we don’t think he will be ready for Aston Villa, there are almost another two weeks before we play again and it is too early to say. The progress that he is making at the minute is very good and if he keeps making such progress, who knows? He is a fit lad and it won’t take much to get him ready again. It will be a really big boost when we have him back." (22/03/07) Jimmy Mac will have a pin put it in his foot, maybe that will give him the balance he needs for his circus act to be successful. Baz Rathbone says: "James has fractured a bone in his foot. He is going to have an operation to have a steel pin down the shaft of the bone to pull it together. Normally with that kind of procedure players are out for about eight weeks." Moyesy says: "We are very disappointed for Faddy. It’s so frustrating. He was playing head tennis with the other boys and it was a completely freak accident. He just fell over. It will probably keep him out for between six and eight weeks." (25/01/07) Another blow for Moyesy with the news that Jimmy Mac has broken a metatarsal bone in his foot, playing head tennis in training (don't ask) . Like Beckham and Gary Neville before him, its that bone in his foot that Wayne Rooney made famous last year. All Daily papers told us to go away when bluekipper asked would we be doing a front page spread on asking the country to pray for Faddy's foot. Faddy will have definitely been utilised with the absence of AJ, and it looks like Moyesy will have to bail in for a forward now, as he has Biffa and Big Vic fit. Faddy left Bellefield on crutches, but ironically his head was ok. (24/01/07) Jimmy scored his first Premiership goal yesterday and he really enjoyed himself in the celebrations. So what was the messing of hair all about? Was it a Ken Dodd or a Stan Laurel. As long as we're not shouting "that's another fine miss" we don't care. Well done Faddy. (24/12/06) Everton need to get back to the sparkling displays they were showing at the start of the season. Lets start with a rocket from you Jimmy. Jimmy Mac says: "We have fizzled out a little bit and we just need to go back to the way we were at the very start. Hopefully we can be one of the teams that gets a run of results, because looking back to when we finished fourth, we set our stall out early and we went on a run and proved hard for the rest of the teams to catch. Hopefully we can do that again, we aren't too far off and we just need to knuckle down and get on with it. There has been a lot of teams that have had good starts and are in positions in the league that maybe weren't expected. But we are still up there. The way we started in the first quarter of the season we were on fire." (13/12/06) Moyesy has backed Jimmy Mac to come good and deliver a few goals. Lets hope he's right. Moyesy says: "He is a ball player. He wants to dribble and take people on. We enjoy that when it works. When it doesn't, you don't enjoy it. He has got to note the right times when to do it and when to link up. James is becoming much better at that aspect of his game and a more rounded footballer. But we don't want to take out that individuality, which is perhaps dying in the game." (29/11/06) Moyesy is hoping that Jimmy Mac has learnt his lesson from his sending off the other week, and he will return a stronger player. Faddy who scored a brace for the rezzies last night, is looked upon by Moyesy as maybe the player who will fill in for Tiny whilst he is on the sidelines. Moyesy must rate the Scottish striker highly, as at last night's Everton Past and Present Managers Evening in the Adelphi, Moyesy parted with £200 of his own money to buy a signed framed James McFadden shirt. Well it was for Alder Hey's Imagine appeal. Well played Moyesy. Moyesy says: "Faddy has got to come back and prove he has learned from his mistake. It was a costly one for us, but we were able to play him last night in the reserves and it was pleasing that he scored twice. It was important for him to get a game as his season has been very stop-start. It has never really got up and running. He is a player that I am looking to rise to the challenge and raise the bar in the coming weeks with Tim Cahill being injured. We will need a few players to stand up and be counted and I hope James McFadden is one of them." (16/11/06) David Moyes face was a picture last night at the post match interview. He was seething! The minute James McFadden got sent off for foul and abusive language against Arsenal, Everton had their backs against the walls, especially as only 19 minutes of the game had gone. Referee Graham Poll, is now up there with Clive Thomas as Evertonians most hated ref. Television replays showed Poll mouthing that McFadden had called him a "fucking cheat". Moyesy immediately frog marched Jimmy Mac into the press conference and the Everton player had his say. McFadden says: "The referee has made the decision - well he hasn't made the decision on the incident before - and, as I'm running back, I've turned around to the ref and said 'that's fucking shite' and I've been sent off for it." The law says a player will be sent off for foul and abusive language. If that is the case every game would end up 4-a-side. (09/11/06) Watching from the stands at Hampden, sitting next to Alex Ferguson, Moyesy say some great things from Jimmy Mac. Now he wants him to bring that game back to Goodison Park. Moyesy says: "It is good to have him back and it is great to see him get some important match fitness. He has shown good form since the start of pre-season and we want him to be a big part of the squad here. He gives us more options. Faddy is a young player who is developing and getting better. He is a great talent and he is improving things like his decision making. We also want him to become more of a team player than an individual talent. But we don't want him to lose that bit which makes him different. He needs to conform to what the team does as well. But games for Everton should hold little fear for him after being involved in beating France. There's still improvement to come in Faddy. I see the difference in him. I see him maturing. France was a difficult job for any striker, given the role he had and how detached his team-mates were for much of the game." (10/10/06) Even though Jimmy Mac hasn't played a game for Everton since tearing a hamstring last month, Moyesy is happy to let him join up with the Scotland squad. Moyesy says: "He has not played for Everton in that period, which has been a blow for us. But I am happy for him to go and play for Scotland so long as he is OK. He has not played any games and he has only had a few days' training. But if he is fine then I will be happy for him to go and get some football played." (01/10/06) Everton have made it known to the Scottish FA, that they would like at least £100,000 in relation to Jimmy Mac's injury whilst the forward was on International duty. Faddy hobbled out against the Faroe Islands with hamstring problems, and the Blues would like the cash to cover the stars wages, nice money if you can get it eh !! Big Keith says: " We will pursue the SFA and their insurers for compensation when James regains full fitness." (22/09/06) Faddy will be out until October with a hamstring tear, he received while playing for Scotland. Mick Rathbone says:"James McFadden injured his hamstring, as we all saw watching the game unfolding on television last week - and that is your worst nightmare when the player is thousands of miles away. The injury happened eight days ago and he is doing okay, doing some light jogging but there is a small tear there so he is going to be out for up to a month." (14/09/06) Jimmy Mac is baffled by his goalscoring ratio for club and country. The Scottish forward scores for fun whilst wearing his National colours, but his goalscoring form for the Blues is good but not brilliant. Jimmy will point to the act that his number of starts at the Blues have been limited, but if his International form keeps up, Moyesy may have some tough, but nice decisions ahead. Jimmy says: "Last season I got the chance to play as a forward and I scored a few goals in the Premiership. It was difficult for me when I went to England at first but I scored a few goals at Motherwell before that and I've always scored goals on a consistent basis when I've been with Scotland. But I can't explain my goal scoring ratio at international level. There's no answer to it, it just seems to happen and hopefully I can keep it up." (05/09/06) Jimmy's Everton and Scotland team mate Gary Naysmith believes that if Faddy stays injury free he can break the Scottish goal scoring record set by Dennis Law, and some other fella' who used to play for the shite, Kenny someone or other. Faddy who netted in the victory over the Faroe Islands at the weekend has now scored ten times for his country, the same total that he has netted for the Blues. Nace says: " Can he get to the record? If he avoids serious injury I don't see why not. As long as Faddy is playing for his club he'll get picked for Scotland because, although there are a lot of good young players coming through, there is nobody in the squad with his natural ability to go past players and that's something he won't lose. Faddy has worked hard and has learned when to play a pass. When he first came into the Scotland team he was always trying to take on players and now he knows when to lay the ball off. You can rely on him for Scotland and Everton. When you see him in training every day, you see he is a top-class player." (04/09/06) Macca is a certain starter for Saturdays game against Spurs. The reason being he made an impression last night and Biffa didn't. Moyesy says "James McFadden made a big impact and it's important that you have people coming off the bench who can do that. I have spoken to James and told him his form pre-season has been excellent and he can count himself really unlucky not to have started. That's why every time people have mentioned the partnership of Beattie and Johnson, I've brought up James McFadden, because his form has been good. "He was a young player when he came here and he's improving all the time. I hope that will continue."(24/08/06) The will he won't he sign a new contract saga has finally come to an end when Faddy signed a new 3 year contract, which will keep him here until 2010. But for a player who has played nearly 100 times for Everton, albeit 40 times as sub, he needs to score more than the 11 he has scored to date. Jimmy Mac says: "It has been a long time coming and I am glad it is done now so I can concentrate on playing football and spending the next few years here at Goodison.I have stated from the beginning I wanted to stay but when you are negotiating sometimes things don't go as smoothly as you like but I am delighted to be signing for another three years. There is healthy competition but I don't think it is beyond me to get into the team and be playing every week, although I have quality players ahead of me the club hasp aid a lot of money for. But it is not unattainable and that is my target. I want to be seen as a striker but if I am called upon to play in midfield I will be happy to do so." (16/08/06) Although there are reports of James McFadden
stalling on signing his new deal he seems to be concentrating on getting
in the fist team for the first game of the season. He is now focussed
solely on being a striker rather than doing an 'adequate' impression of
a winger on either side. Signed A Contract? Oh No He Hasn't Everton
have confirmed that reports from The Liverpool Echo that Faddy had signed
a contract are untrue. But they say that Jimmy is expected to put pen
to paper very soon but he New Contract Signed Until 2009 Faddy has signed a new 3 year deal that will keep him at Goodison until 2009. He will now try and fight for his place. He has never really shown consistent form. So he needs to start quickly to get in the forward line challenging, AJ, Biffa, Vaughany and Vic. Maybe he may now look to compete for the left midfield spot. (21/06/06) |
