I'm Staying, If You Want Me

Great news for the Blues as Harry Hill is determined to stay on if Moyesy wants him. The Blues midfielder who has played in every match this season had hinted that the travelling he did from the Midlands every day was getting to much for him, but with Europe on the horizon the comic genius with the big collars wants to stay on with the Blues. Great news me thinks, as players like Harry Hill and his experience are invaluable to a team who will be fighting on four trophy fronts next season.

Harry says: "It has never been the case that I have wanted to cut the travelling and go back to the Midlands where my family is, despite what some people seem to think. During the five years I have been here I have travelled most days and I have a place up here anyway. The travelling has never been an issue. It is a case of the gaffer and me sitting down to see what he has in mind with my contract ending in the summer.

I've played in every game this season, and that has been something I am proud of. I want another crack at it all now, injury robbed me of European football here last time and I don't want to miss out again. I feel so proud to play for Everton, and this is a massive chance to experience European football now. So to consider walking away from the club is not really in my mind or something I would do lightly.

But my contract is up and we need to have some talks. I have already had a chat with David Moyes a couple of months ago, and he expressed his desire to keep me at the club. I wanted to make sure we finished the season in the right way, and I am sure we can sort something out. Of course I want to still be here next season." (07/05/07)

Pay Back Time

Harry Hill has played every Prem game for the Blues this season, and he thinks its pay back time for missing most of last season due to injury. If the Blues win tonight against Spurs it will put us right in Euro contention, a fact Harry is very aware of.

Harry Hill says: "If we can win it will pull us away from them and it will put a bit more pressure on the teams in front of us. We need people above us to be aware that we are on a good run. I felt like I owed the club this season and if we can finish in the top six we will be quits. We have got some fantastic players here. The new lads have settled in and add to things.

I wouldn't say that we have had a good season. We have been okay. We have been good in patches and poor in patches. We are looking now to build. It's a big game for us and we have prepared in the right way. Hopefully we can get a result. We went to Spurs at the beginning of the season, had a man sent-off and sort of hit them on the break a couple of times. We know they are a tough side." (21/02/07)

Exceptional Commitment

Tim Cahill has singled out Lee for his outstanding commitment to the club.

Tim Cahill says: "Cars speaks for himself. It’s a credit to him. You see the way he looks after himself - he’s at the game an hour-and-a-half before everyone else. He’s at the training ground everyday until 5pm, playing head tennis and things like that. His commitment to Everton Football Club is exceptional and he’s been outstanding. He’s a quiet achiever and does all the ugly stuff for the team. People may get credit for nice passes and tricks but players like Cars and Stubbsy are invaluable." (16/02/07)

Praise For Cars

Everton's assistant manager has given a boost to Harry Hill.

Alan Irvine says: "Cars has been a really important player for us this season. He's done a great job and to be involved in so many games speaks volumes. He is a terrific professional. If you look at the attacking midfielders we have, the likes of Tim Cahill, Mikel Arteta and Leon Osman, he just gets on with things quietly and provides great protection for our defenders. He provides security and is quick to break down opposition attacks. He does it ever so well." (26/01/07)

Incredible But Worthy

Moyesy is not happy with ex redshite Steve Staunton, who called in Lee to the Irish squad even though he the Everton player was not part of the original squad.

Moyesy says: "His form merits the call but he wasn't called in before so I find it incredible he gets called in now when the manager didn't want him before. He has been doing terrific for us and I would have thought he was worthy of a place before but he wasn't picked. I wouldn't have minded a phone call myself. "

Killa Wants Cars Back

Former Everton team-mate Kevin Kilbane believes Lee Carsley at his best is why Everton are doing well again this season and he would welcome him back to the Irish squad.

Killa says: "Cars is very professional on the pitch, someone who is not afraid to stamp his authority on games. He knows his job, sitting in like Claude Makelele at Chelsea in that he gets the ball and gives it to people he feels can do a better job going forward than him. He wants to do the best for the team. I would say he sacrifices himself for the team, while he also has a fear factor about him. I think he is the real reason why, while I was at Everton, we qualified for the Champions League two years ago.

Last season he was out injured, and we struggled throughout - but now he is back in and Everton seem to be going well again. I don't think that is a coincidence. I'd love to see him back in the Irish team, I really would. I think we probably need him." (08/10/06)

I Can Do Without You

Harry Hill's International future is now in doubt after Steve Staunton has indicated he will keep his young fledging players in the squad and not add to it, despite a ruck of injuries to his midfield. Harry after an absence from International footy, declared himself ready to have another crack for the Irish, but it seems Staunton has other ideas.

Staunton says: "I'm not saying Lee is not in my plans but at the moment I'm going with the lads I have. They deserve a chance as they have been in the squad since I took over. They have to grow up and take the bull by the horns." (05/10/06)

Still Unbeaten

While lots of fans are disappointed to have lost points in the last few matches, Harry Hill is staying positive.

Lee says: "We are still unbeaten so that is the positive. If anyone had said that at the start of the season I am sure we would have taken it. In hindsight we played too deep and didn't take our chances. We should have done better in the second half, we had a few chances when we could have killed the game off." (01/10/06)

Rib Injury

Harry was given a pain killing injection for a rib injury he picked up in a challenge with Dick Kite the redshite last week, as Moyesy wanted to play Lee who has had a bright start to the season. He came off in the second half today. He will be assessed on Monday, but will almost certainly miss the Carling cup game at Posh. (16/09/06)

Back To His Best

Harry Hill has rightly earned praise from Moyesy for his battling Derby performance at the weekend. Harry who was involved in all three goals, has been a revelation this season, and Moyesy is telling everyone so.

Moyesy says: "I thought that both Cars and Phil Neville had good games. Playing them together is not something we have done before but they added something slightly different to the team. But I was very pleased with Cars. He's been in great form. His role changed on Saturday as we did not always need him in front of the back four. The way we played allowed him to get forward at different times to get in the box and help create things.

Cars became very good at protecting the boys at the back and has continued to do that really well for us," Moyes continued. "He has started the season well. The way we play at times means he isn't always going to have to play a holding role but there will be games when we need him to stay there and protect us at the back. I think we have just got to be able to adapt. It depends on who we are playing." (12/09/06)

Cunning Plan

Harry Hill reckons that Moyesy's meticulous planning with hopefully do the trick for the Blues in this weekends Derby clash. The players have been working on systems and a game plan to undue the shite, and we have to go back to Harry's strike two seasons ago, since we last turned them over. The tough tackling midfielder reckons that his wonder goal in Everton Champions League season win over the crap has endeared him to Blues fans. Bloody right it has Harry.

Harry Hill says: "We won't just be going out there and hoping for the best. The manager is very big on systems and tactics and there certainly will be a thoroughly thought-through gameplan.

I am not sure if it changed my relationship with the fans. If you are a player for Everton and you give 100 per cent all players are treated the same but I certainly noticed around town I got a lot more stick from Liverpool fans, and more praise from Blues." (07/09/06)

Thanks I'm Staying

Harry Hill dismissed any thoughts of joining Wolves in the Summer as he felt he owed the Blues after his year on the side lines. The ball winning midfielder played his part in Saturdays victory against Watford, and was even credited with the opening goal, just for being thin on top.

Harry however realises that Moyesy will be picking his team to suit the opposition this season, with the competition for places in midfield particularly strong. The Irish midfielder is happy to stay around, and we are happy to have him.

Who put the ball in the red shite net, Super Lee Carsley.....................................

Harry says: "I've got a year left on my contract, but I signed an extension last season and I feel I owe the club a year. Wolves spoke to my agent, but I want to stay. I hope I'll have a role to play. We'll use different systems this season. On Saturday, for example, we thought Watford would be very physical, so I thought I might come in useful. But there'll be games where the gaffer will want to play a different system. It feels like a long time since I last started a game. I never feared I wouldn't play again. The injury itself wasn't really that serious and we just wanted to let it heal, but it just didn't. I ended up having an operation and, if I'd had that at the beginning I'd have been fit to play in the Champions League." (22/08/06)

Take My Chance

Harry is happy with his form going into the start of the season, but knows he may have to wait for a place in the starting line up.

Lee says: “It has been a really good pre-season. I have been so happy to take part as normal and play in the games. I have got four or five 90 minute games under my belt so I am ready for it. You can play 100 pre-season games, but you need to play Premiership matches. It's all about the weekend. I’m just looking forward to playing again. It's a massive club here and there has always been competition for places and no one should be guaranteed a place. I’ll have to wait my turn and when my chance comes take it.” (13/08/06)

I Want To Be In Americaaaaaaaa

Harry Hill whose footballing future is rumoured to be away from Goodison, with Wolves leading the hunt, has jetted out to join his team mates as they prepare to do battle with Team America in Dallas. Harry stayed behind to sort out some personal issues, but now that the bank have increased his over draft limit, he has hot footed it to the States to carry on with his pre season training.

Alan Irvine says: "Lee is on his way and should be here anytime now. We're looking forward to seeing him again. It's a terrible time to miss because this is the foundation for the whole season and if you miss too much of it you probably don't catch up," (29/07/06)

Staying At Home

Harry Hill has had to stay behind in Britain for personal problems. He may make the second game on Sunday.

Moyesy says: “Lee has stayed behind because he has one or two things to sort out family wise but he may well be joining us later in the tour.” (25/07/06)

Fighting Fit

After only playing 6 games last season, due to being out with a knee ligament injury, Harry Hill is looking forward to playing as many games as possible.

Lee says: "It was 10 months on the sidelines so it has been a long road but it is just one of those things. I have been lucky in that I have never had an injury like that before, so if that is the longest I have been out during my career, then I have done well.

The injury is fine now. I was just getting back into the swing of things and obviously it was cut short.
It would have been nice to finish the season off with a game but I was suspended and that was that unfortunately." (07/07/06)
