Honour and a Privilege

Dickie who looks more than likely to move on from Goodison in the Summer has said it has been an honour and a privilege to play for Everton FC. Things have not worked out for the keeper since his move from the Arse in 2002, with Moyesy in that time bringing in Nigel Martyn and Tim Howard to play between the sticks. Dickie has kept dignified however saying that he has fond memories of Goodison Park. Well played Dickie, and if you do move on, good luck.

Dickie says: " We had a chat but the one thing I want to be doing is playing regular football. I’ve had five good years at Everton and it has been a honour and privilege to play for this club. Things might not have worked out quite how I wanted them to, what with picking an injury up and one thing or another, but it was still a terrific experience. I have some fond memories." (16/05/07)

Going, Going, Hang On a Minute

Moyesy has released Dickie Wright from his Goodison £20k a week nightmare (don't you just feel for him), but strangely has left the door slightly open for him with news that if he can't get another keeper in his price range to deputise for Tim, he may give Dickie a bell again. Funny I thought that keeper was Iain Turner. Anyhow, Dickie only made 70 odd appearances for the Blues since his arrival back in 2002. Good luck whatever you end up doing Dickie.

Moyesy says: "Alessandro and Richard have both been released, although the door is slightly ajar for Richard in that we may need to bring in another keeper." (14/05/07)

He Won't Let Anyone Down

Dickie looks set to start ahead of Iain Turner, with Tim Howard unavailable against manure. Moyesy seems to have more faith than the fans in Wrighty. Lets hope he's proved right, right, right.

Moyesy says: “Richard has got a terrific attitude. It is disappointing that we have not got Tim Howard but I will not have any qualms about putting Richard back in. You can never fault his work in training and he is a great lad to have around the place. He won’t let anyone down.” (27/05/07)

Not Giving Up

You have to hand it to him, but Dickie Wright is not giving up on securing a new contract come next Summer with the Blues. Dickie who has seen Nigel Martyn and now Tim Howard come in during his time at Goodison seems to be the eternal optimist, and he still thinks he can do a job for Everton. If as expected Tim Howard is back in goal on Sunday for the visit of West Ham, that should be signal enough for Dickie that it is time to move on to pastures new.

Dickie says: "My intention was to give the manager a headache. Whether that has or not, I will just keep working hard. I'm in the last year of my contract but I'll keep plugging away as that's the only way I know how to work. I'm not going to give up until I'm told otherwise and I'm not needed." (30/11/06)

Moyesy Backs Dickie

Moyesy has given Dickie his full backing before the game at manure.

Moyesy says: "Richard has played on big stages before. He is an experienced goalkeeper and it will be a great opportunity for him. When you give people opportunities you hope they step up to the mark and take it. Richard has been there before and done it, so I am not worried about him at all. I know he is looking forward to it.

He knew we were bringing Tim Howard in on loan with the loss of Nigel Martyn. Richard was aware there would be competition. Tim has played well for us so he has found it difficult. But Richard has been great around the training ground. He is a terrific lad and everyone likes him. He works really hard at his game." (28/11/06)

Rare Premiership Start

Dickie Wright should make his 1st Appearance in the Premiership on Wednesday, due to Tim Howard being unable to play because his loan agreement says so. Dickie, who's only other 1st team appearance this season was back in September, when he played in the 2-1 Carling cup win over Posh, has never fulfilled his promise since he joined Everton from Arsenal.
