Alan Irvine has cleared Stef of any blame. Indeed has praised the German International for playing so well. Alan Irvine says: "I certainly don't think Stefan has been responsible for the results we have had - he has not been to blame for anything that has happened. But you do miss your big players and Tim Howard is one of our big players, he is a really important part of our defence and perhaps he is able to communicate a little bit better than Stefan. But Stefan has done absolutely nothing wrong. But if you hear Chelsea complaining about not having Lampard and Drogba or Manchester United not being the same team without Rooney and Ronaldo so why should we not be the same when we are missing some key players?" (26/09/07) Evertonians got there first sight of Stef on Saturday, when he made his debut against manure. He enjoyed it and hopes to play more games. Stef says: "I don't know how long it will take for Tim to come back and you never wish a colleague to get injured but that is what I came here for. Tim is a very good goalkeeper who has played very well but when he is injured I would like to be there and to play well and I hope I will have some more chances. There is more speed in England than the Bundesliga and it's a bit more aggressive and the atmosphere was great. The fans made me feel really welcome before during and after the game." (17/09/07) Experience In Goal Moyesy has signed former German under 21 International goalkeeper, Sefan Wessels. The 28 year old has been playing for FC Cologne and had a trial with Everton earlier this month. He brings experience to the goalkeepers and will be understudy to Tim Howard, as Everton play in Europe, as well as the 3 domestic competitions. Stef, who was understudy to Oliver Kahn at Bayern Munich has signed until the end of the season on a free transfer. Stef says: "I am excited to be here in England. It is the first time I have played for a club outside of Germany but the English Premier League is a very exciting league and I am looking forward to my time here at Everton." (21/08/07) |
