Fresh Start

Biffa has owned up he was shite last season, but hopes to play a big part this season in Europe and score a few goals.

Biffa says: “It was a bad season for me. I won’t skirt away from that fact. It’s the first season ever that I have not got into double figures. It was very disappointing. But who is going to look backwards? You have got to look forward and remain positive. I have never doubted my own ability and I have never lost faith in myself. I can’t lose my own self- belief because that would just be an absolute disaster. But that hasn’t happened and it won’t happen.

The season starts afresh. I have now got to look forward to what will hopefully be a great season and one where we have got UEFA Cup football on our agenda. The best thing about football is that if you do something wrong, you can put it right the next week. You want to do better all the time.” (27/07/07)

Happy With Pre Season

Biffa is hoping that he can get off to a big start this season. He got a goal in a match and is happy with the way the pre-season is going. He's also impressed with new boy Stevie Pienaar.

Biffa says: “There are some tremendous characters in the team and some leaders. We’re well equipped to do very well this year. The team spirit is a massive part of Everton Football Club and I’m sure it will take Steven time to fully bed in but the lads will be there to back him up. The squad is a little bit small but I’m sure the staff are working on that. We’ve had Steven Pienaar come in this week and he’s looked really sharp. He’s like a typical Ajax player, so accomplished on the ball. The lads have been impressed with him already and if we can add a few more like him to the squad then it will be great for the season that lies ahead.

It was very good and I found it really interesting. It was quite hard because the lads haven’t been used to that kind of training before. The guys are supremely confident and have done a tremendous job. The lads have enjoyed it. You need to have an open mind to different training concepts and be prepared to try them out.” (25/07/07)
