29. Paddy Boyle - 07/08

Back At Goodison

After playing 17 times in his 4 month loan spell, Paddy returned to Finch Farm this week.

Crewe Alexandra assistant manager Neil Baker says: "Patrick has done alright for us. He settled in quickly, improved but then lost his place. He had a couple of below par performances and was left out after the Luton game, but he came back into the side and he has done well recently." (22/04/08)

Paddy To Stay At Crewe

Paddy looks set to stay at Gresty Road until the end of the season. Crewe have agreed to extend the loan deal Boyle until 20th April. Paddy has made 12 appearances for Crewe since arriving in January. (23/03/08)

Games At Crewe

With Nuno Valente, Bainsey and Roger all in front of Paddy for the left back spot, Everton have let him join Crewe on loan for a month. He should get a game tonight when Crewe play Swansea.

Paddy says: “Traditionally, Crewe have always been renowned for being a footballing side and although things haven’t gone well for them lately, I can’t wait to get started. They’ve got a lot of games during my month and if I prove that I am worthy of a place in the team then it will be a chance for me to play regular football. Playing League One football week-in, week-out is far better for me than waiting for reserve matches to come along.” (22/01/08)

Trial At Plymouth

Paddy will spend next week on trial at Plymouth Argyle. They are hoping to get permission to play the 20-year-old in the reserves' away game against Swindon Town on Tuesday.

Plymouth boss Paul Sturrock says: "Everton have given permission for him to come down here so we can have a look at him. If he's here on trial, he's here to impress. And if he impresses we would sort something out." (04/01/08)

Thumbs Up

Paddy missed most of last season after a back injury whilst on loan at Norwich. He played a full 90 minutes against Bury and Alan Irvine was happy for the lad.

Alan Irvine says: "I was delighted for Paddy. If anyone was going to break down or tie up it was going to be Paddy. I made special mention of him in the dressing room because of that. He has been out for a long time. I feel as if he is not quite as sharp as the Paddy before he got injured but that will come with some extra sprint work. I am pleased he battled through because with 15 minutes to go he was starting to cramp up. I asked him if he was okay and he gave me the thumbs up so he deserves credit." (15/07/07)

Positive Paddy

With Gary Naysmith looking likely to move onto another club, Paddy is looking to getting in the first team squad. It's been a full year since he last played for Everton due to injury and being out on loan, but he feels he can take a leaf out of Vaughany's book and return into the fold.

Paddy says: "I am just glad to be back in and amongst it. Last season started well but the injury set me back and I have missed out on a year. I am just looking forward to getting a pre-season under my belt, getting my head down and seeing what happens. You always have to look on the positive side of things. Vaughany was out for well over a year and you just have to look at how well he has done since he came back in. He became an important part of the team." (05/07/07)
