2. Tony Hibbert - 2007/08

Out For 3 Months

Hibbo prooved what a hard nut he is as it has been revealed that his Man of The Match performance against Arsenal last week was played with him suffering serious medial ligament damage. He will have a second scan to see the full extent of the damage.

Moyesy says: “Tony is going to out for probably three months. We are not quite sure yet whether he will need an operation. He has been for one scan and will be going for another one soon. It says a lot for his character the way he played on. He was outstanding but his knee is quite bad.” (10/05/08)

We're Aiming For Three Points Not One

In a rare interview Hibbo says the players are up for the last game against Newcastle and will be pushing on for a win not just the draw Everton need for European qualification.

Hibbo says: "We've got to finish on a high. We've got to get the 3 points. I know a point will do, but we need to finish at Goodison with a 3 pointer, because we've done that all season. We've been brilliant. The lads want to win. I think going to Goodison the lads will be up for it. The fans at Goodison are like the twelfth man. They'll get behind us. Hopefully they can get behind us and help us get the 3 points." Full interview on evertontv

On Hibbo at Arsenal Moyesy says: "I thought Tony Hibbert was outstanding, as was Joseph Yobo and Phil Jagielka and Joleon Lescott. We play Hibbo in the games that matter because he is a good defender and he doesn't let you down. He is honest in his work and he is a really good player." (07/05/08)

I'm Staying Too

Hibbo has signed an extension to his current contract along with his old mate Leon Osman. Hibbo like Leon has been at the club since his school boy days, and he is hoping that his time with the Blues will reap some silverware.

Hibbo says: "I’m made up that I’m here for another five years and I’m very happy to be here and carry on playing my football here. It’s good to sign at the same time as Leon. We’ve grown up together and been playing for Everton for many years. It’s good to see that we’re still wanted at the club and it’s a good thing that it’s for five years." (21/01/08)

Vital Pre-season

If Tony gets a full pre-season under his belt, he'll be ok.

Moyesy says: "Hibbo missed three-quarters of the season with injury and it is important he gets a good pre-season under his belt so he can get himself up to full speed again. He did well when he came back in at the end of the season." (31/05/07)
