The Everton Physio - Mick 'Baz' Rathbone - 2008/09

Mick Checks On Tim In Australia

Everton's head physio has just returned from Oz after seeing how Tim Cahill is getting on in the outback. Baz is more than happy that Tim is under good specialists in the bush and should be back to join in pre-season training. The flying doctor pays Tim a visit every month to bring in the deep heat and a few tinnies. It's only a rumour that Mick could not be found by his driver at Manchester airport as he had a silly bush hat with corks dangling from it and holding a koala skin water bottle.

Baz says: "I went to Sydney last Monday and saw Tim and we had a meeting with the specialists. We had some new x-rays done and I met with the Aussie medical team who are looking after him for a couple of weeks. The facilities are fantastic as you would expect, and I was very impressed with the surgeon. Things seem to be going very well. We discussed the rehab and he gets another x-ray in three weeks time and we will re-evaluate from there.

It was a very good trip professionally, speaking. The guy has a lot of experience with this type of injury, he has a slightly different approach. They have worked out a good schedule with us. I saw him on the Wednesday and the Thursday and he's done some work in the gym with their fitness coach so it's so far so good." Full interview on evertontv (23/05/08)
