Big Vic was at the centre of A humiliating incident with Chesire Police who suspected him of casing a jewellers shop where Victor and his mate were window shopping. The injured Blues centre forward was asked what he was up to, and when the bizzies were not satisfied with Victors answer, his mate was snapped into handcuffs. Victor rightly asked would the same treatment be handed out if he was white rather than black, and its fair shout. The Fuzz have issued Victor and his pal with an apology, but the Blues player is far from happy with that. Just to remind the police the year is 2009, and not 1973. Well played Victor. Big Vic says: "Whilst I do fully understand Cheshire Police's desire to tackle the problem of robberies on jewellery shops in the Knutsford area, I remain deeply upset and very angry about the treatment which was meted out to myself and a friend yesterday (Wednesday). We were doing no more than window-shopping when we found ourselves surrounded by Police officers who accused us of attempting to steal watches. Both myself and my friend, Lee, were accused, by Cheshire Police officers, of ‘attempted theft‘. Sadly, even when I explained who I was and what I was doing, they continued to treat both of us as not just suspects but as criminals. It was not only totally ridiculous but also highly embarrassing and totally humiliating. Simply because we stood our ground and insisted that we had done absolutely nothing wrong, they decided to place my friend in handcuffs. I am currently having to use crutches to walk as I recently underwent surgery on a knee injury and - astonishingly - one of the officers even tried to grab the crutches in order to prevent me from ‘escaping'. After what seemed like an eternity the Police officers seemed to realise that they had made a mistake, acknowledging that I was a footballer with Premiership club and not someone who was preparing to commit a crime. At the time, I asked the officers if they would have taken the action they did had I been white rather than black. Whilst I do not wish to turn this unfortunate and unnecessary incident into a race issue, I believe it is a question which does need to be asked. I am pro-Police - always have been and always will be. However, on this occasion they clearly got things badly wrong. Whilst both myself and my friend welcome the statement which has been issued by Cheshire Police this afternoon, we do not feel it constitutes the unreserved apology we were seeking and which we believe is justified under the circumstances." Big Vic has joined The Yak and Mikky in the long term injury stakes after Moyesy confirmed that he will go under the knife for his damaged cartilage. Victor was the victim of Kevin Nolan's assault in the nil all draw at the Skunks the other week, and Moyesy had hoped the damage was minimal but it now seems this is not the case. Its been a colourful year for the Blues striker, starting with a Silver medal in the Beijing Olympics, a last transfer day request to join Hull being turned down, and the infamous bust up with Moyesy, so Vic will probably be ready for the rest. Get well lad. Moyesy says: "Victor will have an operation. He's damaged his cartilage and is out for the season. It's a blow for the boy as he'd just got back into the team, and it's another player we have lost." (05/03/09) The news on the injury front doesn't get any better with the news that Victor will be missing longer than expected. So much so Moyesy is worried that he could be out for the season. You shithouse Nolan. Oh I'm sorry he's just not that type of player. My arse he isn't. Moyesy says: "Victor has got a bad injury from the tackle. He has lateral knee ligament damage, and possibly some other damage as well which we won't be able to clear up until next week. "But at the moment, if it's what we think we have now then it will be three to four weeks, if not then he could be out for the rest of the season." (27/02/09) Victor is another on one Basil's treatment table, and he will definitely miss this weekends clash with West Brom after the horrific challenge on him by that shit bag Nolan in Sundays drawn match against the Skunks. Basil will have to let the swelling die down before he can properly assess the damage, and I mean to his knee, dirty ticket. Basil says: "The scan has confirmed that he's badly bruised and he's also jarred the outside of his knee. It's very difficult to clinically evaluate a limb when it's swollen. We are going to let it settle down over the weekend and then reassess. We may take him down to London and let the orthopaedic surgeon take a look at him too. Victor is very philosophical about it. He's wise for his age, it shook him up but he's a tough boy." (25/02/09) Its a funny old game, Greavsie used to say to that ex shit' ed 'Saint', and indeed it is. There you have Mikky going down under no challenge whatsoever and he is ruled doubt for a season with a cruciate problem. Then you have Big Vic who was assaulted by that shit bag Kevin Nolan in the same match, and although he hobbled off the damage thankfully does not look to bad. Victor as we all did feared a broken leg, but thankfully he may be in the mix for Saturdays game against West Brom. Nolan hopefully will rot on the sidelines for many weeks to come, you shit bag Victor says: "I've never felt as much pain in my life. I thought I'd broken my leg. I couldn't even look down, to be fair. It was a terrible tackle but I don't think he really meant it, he came and said sorry. But what can you do? I felt so much pain. Now it's not too bad. It's not as bad as I first thought anyway, but I'm feeling a bit of pain in my knee and the back of my calf and down my shin so we'll see how it is. I've always thought to myself I'll never get injured for a long period of time," he said. "When it happened I thought, that's me, that's my time, but luckily I've got strong legs anyway, and if that was anyone else, their leg would have snapped in two. I suppose I'm lucky to come out not as bad anyway, so I'll get a scan on Monday and see how it is. Hopefully everything is alright." (23/02/09) Victor could be back in the frame for the Villa game. If he does get his chance the way to say sorry is to pull your tripe out for the club and score us a goal. Moyesy says: "I will consider Victor. He's back in the squad, he gets on with his job, he's fit. That gives him a chance of being involved. I couldn't give you a definite of whether he will or he won't feature."(14/02/09) Whatever the full story over Big Vic and that 'incident' at Finch Farm earlier in the week, the Nigerian forward has thought it best to come out and apologise for his actions. Moyesy thought the 'incident' sufficient enough to leave his only spare front man out in the cold in the Blues glorious FA Cup win over the shite last night, which in an ironic way could have won the game for the Blues. If Vic had been on the bench, he may have come on before Dan Gosling who subsequently grabbed the extra time winner. Funny old world isn't it. Vic says: "I don’t want to speak about anything that goes on at the training ground but I will say that I was not verbally abusive to the manager. The report that was in a newspaper this morning was not right. I didn’t row with Steve Round and wasn’t escorted from Finch Farm by members of the medical staff. I have got great respect for the manager, the coaches, all my team-mates and the supporters and I am embarrassed by the report this morning. I’m an Everton player and am proud to be. I want to put this behind me and move on again. I want to fight for a place in the team and I want to repay the manager for the faith he has shown in me in the past." (05/02/09) He's Not Coming Out To Play, Coz He's Been a Very Naughty Boy It is doubtful that Big Vic will even make the subs bench against the shite tonight after reports that he has had a bust up with Moyesy and Steve Round. Vic we are told spat the dummy out after a last minute move to Hull fell through on Monday, and in no uncertain terms told Moyesy he was not best pleased. You take on a Scotsman at your peril, and it is rumoured that Vic was led from the training ground by some of the back room staff after having a right go at the Boss. You make get your wish now in the Summer Vic to leave Goodison, whether you like it or not. Well played Moyesy, don't take any shite. (04/02/09) Hull City made a late bid to take Vic on loan for the rest of the season. But Moyesy said on your bike. Hopefully Big Vic will play his part in the FA Cup replay on Wednesday. (03/02/09) Big Vic started in the league derby and did well. Moyesy is pleased and wants him to keep fit and go on a run of games to progress in the first team. Moyesy says: "Victor has made good progress in the last couple of games he's started. I thought he played very well against Aston Villa a few weeks ago. Then he missed out through injury. Then he started again the other night. I think if we can get him on the field and playing regular there's an opportunity to keep progressing. He's someone who can be a handful on his day. A young lad who is still developing." (24/01/09) Vic came on for the last few minutes against Hull, and looks like favourite to replace Fellaini in the Derby game next Monday night. It's an opportunity for lad to make a name for himself and become a hero just for one day. Phil Neville says: “Fellaini will be a big loss for us but it’s up to Victor and other players to step up to the mark.” Vic says: “It's an exciting prospect. But like the manager has said he could look to bring someone in. We need to be prepared for that. We'll see, if I'm the one who's playing, I'll be happy to do so. Three points would obviously take us closer to the top four but it's also vital for Liverpool as well. They're sitting top of the Premier League and want to stay there. We're trying to get there so it will be a massive game. Our form's good but that means nothing on the day. The run could stop at any time so we've got to keep our heads down, keep doing what we're doing, not think we're above ourselves and just go for it.” (14/01/09) Everton's team spirit has shone through like a beacon for all to see as Big Vic has put the team before his personal gain by calling on Moyesy to bring in a striker in the January transfer window. Big Vic says: "Of course we need a striker. Even though I'm a striker, of course we need to. If you look at it, there's only me, Lukas Jutkiewicz and Tim Cahill who can play there. Tim's a midfielder and me and Lukas are still young. I think he does need to bring someone in with more experience. It's quite crazy what's gone on with all the injuries but that's life sometimes. You just have to deal with it. Even if we bring in another striker, you're always going to have competition and it will be good for everyone. I'm just looking forward to seeing who we bring in." (08/01/09) With Moyesy looking for new strikers in the transfer market in January, Vic did his best until coming off late in the Aston Villa game. Moyesy says: "Look at Victor’s performance, especially in the first half - I thought it was outstanding. If he plays as he did for an hour until his injury we’ll be more than happy.” (08/12/08) Its Your Time Vic Come Sunday Big Vic will probably be the only fit first team striker that Moyesy will have at his disposal. The Yak is out for the season, Vaughany is out for a few months, and Louis may be a week or two away from full fitness. Mikky in midfield has no doubt the Nigerian front man will take his chance to impress up front. Mikky says: "Victor has done really well when he’s come in. He creates good chances for himself just playing on his own up there. We’ve got two good players to play in front of the midfield in Felli (Screech) and Tim (Tiny). They get into the box and create a lot from those positions. Hopefully we can find the right way to play." (03/12/08) Vic wants the Everton fans to stick with the team during this barren spell. We'd say selling out the away allocation at every away game is proof enough that the fans are with the team, like they will be at Spurs. Vic says: "This is a massive game for us. It has been a slow season but if you look at how we compare with our points at this stage last year, it’s not too bad. It’s quite hard to understand what is going on in the league. Everyone is beating everyone and a couple of victories can send you flying up the table. It’s been hard to get good momentum going. We thought we had it during that little five-game unbeaten run, but we lost it against Wigan. I can understand why everyone was frustrated but we need the fans to stick with us and hopefully we will get through this little patch. Tottenham are doing well at the moment, so we know it is going to be a good game,” said Anichebe, who is pressing his claim for a starting place despite having Ayegbeni Yakubu and Louis Saha as competition up front. We haven’t played to our best and a number of things have built up – injuries and international call-ups – to take a toll. But we’ll get back to our best soon." (29/11/08) Vic took until the second half against Stoke to get used to what he was doing in a unusual role on the right of midfield. But he had a great second half and as long as he plays he doesn't care where the boss plays him. Vic says: "The manager asked me to play right midfield, which is different for me."To be fair I enjoyed it and if he asks me to play there, I'm going to play there, it's not really a problem." I'm still young and I'm still learning but I enjoyed today, I got myself on the scoresheet, I helped the team and I held the ball up. Right midfield is a very demanding position, you have to get forward and go back, it's crazy." (15/09/08) Olympics Was A Life Changing Experience Big Vic is back at Finch Farm with his silver Olympic medal but with a few injuries. He says meeting so many international stars for all sports was a fantastic experience. Vic says: "I am so proud to win the medal. We were within touching distance of the gold but it's a huge achievement just getting a medal. It was an unbelievable achievement and a once in a lifetime opportunity. I met Usain Bolt, Maradona, Riquelme and Ronaldinho, which I never would have expected. "I'm knackered, but happy to be back now - I've been away since May. I've been speaking to Vaughany and Lukas and they've been letting be know how things have been going." Full Interview on evertontv.com (28/08/08) The Yak is pleased that Big Vic has a medal in his pocket from the Olympics and is hoping he comes home with gold for Nigeria. The final is against Argentina on Saturday. The Yak says: "I am so happy for the boys and I hope they can do the same again and win the gold medal. It's great for Victor - he's young so it's great experience." (20/08/08) Preston boss Alan Irvine has confirmed he's interested in signing Vic on loan, but the former Everton assistant manager knows he will have to wait until new players arrive at Goodison before he has any chance of securing a deal. Alan says: "Victor is a really good player. I know him really well and if Victor was here that would be absolutely fantastic for us. But David is having enough problems himself getting players in and Victor is at the Olympics in any case, and so I don't think David will be in the position to let players out on loan until such time as he got his own squad sorted out. Like I say it is not just Everton, most managers I speak to are saying the same thing - in that they are having difficulty bringing in the players they want to." (08/08/08) Everton's 19-year-old striker has made the last 22 for the Nigerian squad in the Olympics next month. The Olympic Games football tournament starts on 6th August in Beijing China. (24/07/08) It's been confirmed that Vic has been named in the provisional Nigeria 26-man squad for next month’s Olympic games. He will meet up for training in South Korea on Tuesday, 5th August. Then he hopes to be in the final 22, who will take part in the tournament in Beijing. Nigeria’s first match of the games is against Netherlands on 7th August. If he makes it this far, Vic he could miss the first two games of the season against Blackburn Rovers and West Brom, which is the same day as the Olympic final. (15/07/08) Big Vic will miss the start of the season, as he will be in the Nigerian Olympic squad. He could be away for most of August depending on how far they go. He will miss a couple of friendlies and possibly the opening game against Blackburn and the away game at West Brom, which is the same day as the Olympic final. He is currently recovering from an awkward fall, which seen him end his full senior debut after 40 minutes. Vic says: "I went up for a header and I fell down flat on my chest and I could barely move. The weather was really bothering me. I think I need some time to get used to it, but I am sure with time I will be more used to the conditions in Nigeria. We won the game and that is important for our confidence. We now have four wins and it makes it easier going into the last two games." (23/06/08) |
