Reserves/Blackburn (H)

Everton 2, Man City 2 . / Tues. 15th Oct 2002. / Attn: 749 /

Everton: Simonsen, O'Hanlon, Stubbs, Pilkington, Pistone, King, Carney, Schumacher, McLeod, Moore, Chadwick.

Subs: Cole, Crowder, Colbeck, A Moogan.

Steve Watson tweaked his knee ligaments in training & was left out of the game. Flipin eck it was cold at Widnes. Windy as hell. This spoilt the game for both sides. Everton will see this as 2 points lost, even though it was a strong Blackburn side they faced. They had Curtis, Todd, Hignett, Grabbi,
Jansen, & former Tranmere player Alan Mahon with Premiership experience. Telford, trialist, teenager, Jordan King played in midfield for the blues.

Simonsen: Simmo never had much to do, but dealt with eveything he had to competently. Had no chance with the Jansen goal.
O'Hanlon: Did well. Stuck at his task.
Stubbs:
Won a lot of headers. Had a chance to score with a good drive.
Pilkington:
Some sharp interceptions.
Pistone:
Not bad for 1st game of the season. Got booked.
King:
Full of running. Some nice touches.
Carney: When he was in the game, did well. S
cored an absolute beauty. Warmed us up no end.
Schumacher:
Did well. A bit raw at times. Brought down for the pen.
McLeod:
Scored a disallowed goal. Busy & tidy.
Moore:
Quite game.
Chadwick:
Scored the pen. Should have scored a second.

Stars On Comeback Trail

Steve Watson, Sandro Pisstone, & Alan Stubbs all play tomorrow in an attempt to secure a 1st team place. Pisstone is still a couple of games away from getting in the 1st team squad. Wato is trying to show what he can do on the right side of midfield. He belives there is a place for him in that position now that Saint Nic has been dropped. He will then challenge Lee Carsley for the spot. Stubbsey plays alongside Li Wei Feng. The player he will be contesting a place with, when Davie Weir is suspended.

Andy Holden's team, currently second in the league hope to keep the pressure on Leeds, by beating lowly Blackburn. Kevin McLeod, & Nick Chadwick look set to play. (14/10/02)
