By Lavington Once again, Andy Holden had to field a young and inexperienced side, due to players out on loan, injuries and first team commitments. This though did not hinder his young charges, as a Danny Fox goal gave the Blues maximum points. A well taken free kick from the youngster, on the stroke of half time, gave the Blues a lead against the run of play. As expected Birmingham had far more possession than their opponents, though Wrighty in the Everton sticks was rarely called into action in a fairly dull first half. Everton
started the second period in a far livelier mode, with Schumacher, and
Vaughan both going close. Wrighty at least justified his wages for the
evening when he superbly tipped away a close range effort from Brum's
front man Curtis. Brian Moogan could have doubled the home sides advantage
when late his 25 yard effort, grazed Ian Bennett's bar. As the weather
closed in, it was a credit to both sides, that the standard of play did
not detiorate, and no doubt Andy Holden will be delighted at the three
points.
