By Lavington Leon Osman's late strike gave the Everton second string all the points in a match made difficult by the windy conditions in the North East.Everton controlled the first half with Osman letting one fly from twenty odd yards, just missing the keepers left hand post.Boro' though themselves could have took the lead when Graham screwed a shot wide, when only having Simmo to beat. After that scare the Blues started to take control, and on twenty three minutes Chaddy followed up a save off the keeper to hammer the ball home from six yards out.Franny Jeffers who is serving his pennance in the second string after Saturday's debacle, showed a great bit of skill, by jinking past a few Boro' defenders and unleashing a shot just wide. Half Time: Boro 0, Everton 1. With the second half only four minutes old Chaddy met an excellent centre from Brian Moogan, only to see his excellent volley, superbly saved by Turnbull in the Boro net.In the sixty third minute Boro got the equaliser totally against the run of play, when Smith's swirling shot, assisted by the wind left Simmo stranded, as the ball found the back of the Everton net.Boro now sensed victory and Simmo was called upon to keep the opposition at bay on more than one occasion. With the clock ticking down, and the game heading for the draw, up stepped Leon Osman who let one fly to seal all three points for the Blues. Full Time: Boro 1, Everton 2. Franny Jeffers dropped to the second string as a punishment, Chaddy making in roads on the way back from injury.Simmo in for the ever injured Dickie Wright. Everton from: B Moogan, Unsworth, Clarke, Osman, Barry, Li Tie, Schumacher, Pascucci, Alexandersson, Gallagher, A Moogan, Lynch,Chadwick, Gerrard, Hughes, Fox, Turner, Wilson.
