Leeds 0, Everton 0. / Wed. 7th April 2004./ Atten: 855/ @Belle Vue. Kick-Off: 7.00pm
EVERTON: Simonsen, Wynne, Fox, Hughes, Gerrard, Schumacher, Fowler, Wilson, Pascucci, Hopkins, Boyle. BENCH: Potter, Lake, Wright, Flood, Jones An inexperienced reserve eleven, did Andy Holden and Everton proud last night, in holding Leeds rezzies to a nil all draw. Only Simmo in the Everton sticks had any first team experience, and that was called upon on more than one occasion, to keep his side in the hunt. Leeds had by far the the lions share of possession in the first half, as Simmo pulled off a host of fine saves, one notably from Leeds, England U21 striker Chris Jones. A fine lob from the Leeds prospect forced Simmo, to tip the ball over the bar, and shortly after that the Everton keeper saved well, as Jones was confronted with a one on one situation. In all of the first half, Everton failed to have one notable effort at goal, as the game turned out to be, a drab end of season affair. The second period, started in the same vein, in which the first one ended. Leeds were in the ascendancy. Simonsen, who was by far the man of the match, was being called upon, time and time again, to keep his side in the hunt. It was not until the 58th minute, that the Blues registered their first effort on goal, when Pascucci fluffed a close range effort, after great work out wide by Andy Fowler. Everton did create more chances, when the lively Fowler had to watch a couple of his efforts flash narrowly wide. Nil, nil it ended, and with the youth Andy Holden had at his disposal, he would by far have been the happier of the two managers. Full Time: Leeds 0, Everton 0. Jogger's
