By Lavington Andy Holden fielded a host of stars with first team experience, some coming back from injury, and some just coming back. Love him or loathe him, there is definitely no getting away from the Big Scot, who on his day is a handful for anyone. Everton also welcomed back, and not before time Steve Watson, and lets hope he is pushing for a place for the big boys on Saturday. Moyesy paid the rezzy's the compliment of turning out on a bitterly cold evening in South Manchester, and could have seen his second string take the lead within the first minute when Leon Osman fired into the side netting after good work from Gemmill and Alexandersson. It was the ever impressive young Iain Turner, in the Everton goal who again caught the eye, with two excellent saves in the first fifteen minutes, as City pressed forward. Clarke and Campbell both went close, with the latter seeing his volley go inches over Schmeichel's bar, that's his son, not the one with the huge red nose, but minutes later the young City keeper saved at Campbell's feet, after great work from the Everton forward. In a half of chances at both ends, it was a surprise it remained goal less, was this the rezzy's acting out the first team's inept performances in front of goal. Let's hope not. Half Time: City 0, Everton 0. It took sixteen minutes of the second period for a goal to warm up the game. Bosvelt handed Siberski an easy chance to slot his drive past Turner, to start a frantic fifteen minutes of goal action. Within a couple of minutes Gemmill had the Blues level, with a perfectly executed lob over the advancing Schmeichel, leaving Junior stranded. Within four minutes Everton took the lead when a free kick was awarded just outside the area, and up stepped Ferguson to unleash a low shot that nestled in the right hand corner of the helpless keeper's net. After Sunday's debacle the game was crying for a big man, and with Moyesy in attendance, I for one hope he starts him on Saturday, as if we are paying him thirty odd grand a week, lets use him. City though were not finished, when with ten minutes left on the clock, Turner pulled down Croft, and Shuker tucked away the resulting spot kick. As was the theme of the game, one goal was instantly followed by another, and unluckily it went against us, as after another good save by Turner, the rebound was belted in by Negouai. It was harsh on Everton, though the game did end in controversy, as a powerful header by Ferguson appeared to have crossed the line, but his appeals were waved away by the men in black. Andy Holden's unbeaten run of seven games came to an end, but with players on the comeback trail here tonight, it can only be good news for Moyesy, and he has something to ponder over in the next few days, before our long trip down South.
