Everton's reserve campaign finished last night with a nil nil draw at home to Bolton. Like all end of season, nothing to play for matches, it was not one for the purists. Everton did not have a decent effort until five minutes before the break when Anichebe forced a good save out of the Bolton keeper.

The second half was a bit brighter, and Guillame Plessis came close to breaking the deadlock when his powerful drive went narrowly wide. Bolton pressed and were unlucky not to take the lead, when Portuguese striker Vaz Te, was denied a goal after some good work by Sean Lake in the Everton goal. The best chance of the night, came in the dying seconds when Paul Hopkins drive was turned around the post by Howarth the Bolton goalkeeper. Nil all it ended, and Andy Holden's youngsters can now put their feet up, and wait for next season. Well played lads. (04/05/04)
