James Vaughan gave Everton's second string a winning start to 2005. Everton beat a strong Boro reserve side that included Malcolm Christie, Carlo Nash and Stuart Parnaby, and lets hope it is a sign of things to come this Sunday.

On a difficult night for flowing football with the atrocious weather conditions, Everton sealed the win with a thirty sixth minute winner from the Everton front man. He fired in a low effort from close range, after good work from Bjarni Vidarrson.

Everton defended stoutly late on in the match, to put a smile on Andy Holdens face, and three points on the board. (12/01/05)
