Everton's second string battled to a commendable 2-2 draw against a City side flying high. City took the lead early on in the first half, and Everton's only effort was a shot comfortably saved by Peter's lad, Kasper from Paul Hopkins. City looked comfortable in the first half, and went in leading, after their tenth minute opener.

Lively James Vaughan, levelled for the trickies, six minutes into the second period, when his low shot snook past Schmeicel in the City net. Iain Turner in the Blues net was called on frequently, and moments after Everton's equaliser, saved superbly from Bermingham. The game ebbed and flowed, but it was Everton who took the lead with twelve left on the clock. It was that man Vaughan again, who from close range, gave Everton the advantage, after some great work out wide by Anichebe.

Andy Holden must have been counting the three points, but with four left on the clock, Bermingham pulled the game level again. All square, but overall Andy Holden must be pleased with his young and inexperienced squad performing so admirably. (27/10/04)

Following torrential rain for the last eighty nine days, none stop that is, a pitch inspection will be needed to see if our rezzies can play City's second string over in Manchester this evening. The ref will sail around the pitch to see if it is playable at 4pm this afternoon.

If the game goes ahead, Andy Holden will be left with the youngest of the young again, as Moyesy will be pinching Chaddy, Wrighty, and Faddy for first team duty tomorrow evening in the Carling Cup. Anthony Gerrard who took a severe knock on his knee last week, is ruled out for the foreseeable future, so Andy Holden only real experience available tonight, will be keeper Ian Turner, and defender Eddy Bosnar.
