Everton went down 3-1 to Brian McClair's team last night at Altrincham's Moss Lane Stadium. Everton though had the ideal start when Victor Anichebe slotted home after two minutes from close range. Everton could and should have gone two up, but Icelandic Bjarni Vidarsson couldn't get the right connection on Gary Naysmith's free-kick.

United had most of the pressure, but the Everton defence coped well with Anthony Gerrard and Daniel Fox in particular in good form. With just two minutes to go before half-time the home side equalised as Everton hit the self destruct button, as straight from the kick off United took the lead through Jones, whose volley flew past Dickie in the Everton sticks. The second half started as bad, as the first finished, as United scored their third of the evening courtesy of an oggie from Eddy Bosnar.

Everton did press on with Chaddy going close on a few occasions. The Everton forward also has the opportunity to reduce the arrears from the penalty spot after 79 minutes after Mark Howard had handled. But Chadwick saw his spot-kick saved by United keeper Tom Heaton.

It was a frustrating night for Andy Holden, and all in all United were value for the points. Plus points of the evening was a full ninety minutes for the returning Nace, and he is sure to step into Moyesy's squad for the weekends visit to the bar codes. (26/11/04)

Dickie Wright is a certain starter in tonight's rezzie fixture against Man Ure at Altrincham's Stadium. Everton who have not won in five games, will have a bit of experience to hand tonight, with the inclusion of Gary Naysmith, and front man Nick Chadwick, to Andy Holdens young squad.

It is by far the most experienced side Holden has been able to field this season, and a repeat of last seasons two one success against Man Ure, will see Holden's boys leap frog the shite into ninth place. COYB (25/11/04)

Everton from: Turner, Wynne, Wilson, Bosnar, Fox, Naysmith, Harris, Fowler, Phelan, Vaughan, Hopkins, Seargeant, Anichebe, Lake, Boyle, Vidarsson, Gerrard, Wright, Chadwick, Kearney, Fox.
