Everton: Wright R, Wynne, Wright S, Bosnar, Hughes, Harris, Watson, Plessis, Anichebe, Seargeant, Hopkins Bench:
Kearney (Bosnar 46), Vidarrsson,
Gallagher, Fowler, Holt. An Eddy Bosnar 30 yard special was not enough for Everton to take maximum points in the rezzie's battle with our friends from Analfield. Australian Bosnar struck an unstoppable shot on the half hour mark to give the Blues a lead against a shite side packed with first team experience. Smicer, Nunez, Ostemeboor, Pellegrino, were among the shite players fielded against an Everton side boasting only Steve Watson, and Dickie Wright with first team experience for us. The Aussie never appeared for the second half, after Nunez, one of those hopeless Spaniard's Beneath Us has signed, left his foot in, late on in the first half. Andy Holden had to shuffle his pack for the second half, and Alan Kearney came on to replace the unlucky Aussie. Minutes into the second half, Smicer netted from close range to level the scores, beating the unlucky Wright. Dickie was called upon several on occasions, with the pick of the bunch being late on, as he tipped a goal bound shot over. Against the vastly more experienced shite side, Andy Holden will be happy with the point, especially with losing Antnee Gerrard to Walsall on loan earlier in the week. Andy Holden says: "I thought we'd be in for a really tough night when I saw their lineup. They had international players in there and a few with Premiership experience and they gave it a right good go, but our lads more than matched them on the night. In fact if we had been two or three up at half time it wouldn't have been an injustice. Our players deserve a lot of credit." (25/03/05)
