Steve Watson geared up for Sundays Derby with a cracking winner near the end of the rezzies well earned victory at home to Wolves. Until Watto's brilliance, it was a game of nip and tuck, as Everton took the lead as early as the eleventh minute through the impressive James Vaughan. Wolves, however were not to be undone, and equalised minutes later, after a free kick eventually went in off the unfortunate Iain Turners bonce, after rebounding off the post. The goal was credited to Wolves Keith Andrews, but Turner definitely got the last touch to guide it in the onion bag.
Turner was the centre of attention again, when in the second half he clattered Liam Hughes, but the referee gave the Everton keeper the benefit of the doubt, and only a yellow was produced. The goal of the game came through Watto though, who after receiving the ball from Anichebe, he looked up, and calmly chipped the ball in the visitors net for all the points. Andy Holden was smiling, and Steve Watto definitely was, as he gave Moyesy a timely reminder before Sunday's crunch match. (17/03/05)
Andy Holden should be delighted with the players at his disposal, as the second string take on Wolves at Haig Avenue this evening. Holden can include first teamers, Stevey Watto, Gary Naysmith, and also talented French youngster Guillame Plessis. Stevey Watto may only be risked for the first half, with an eye to the subs bench for this weekends Derby.
Nace makes his first start since the Cup defeat against Man ure, and Moyesy will no doubt be eager to see how he plays, also with a view to making the bench on Sunday.
Wolves are nine points ahead of the Blues in the League, so tonight should be a tester for the rezzies, who are hoping to bounce back after last weeks 1-0 defeat to Shittteeehhh. (16/03/05)
