Everton's
second strings last away outing of the season, ended with a goalless
draw over in Leeds last night. In a poor game of few chances, it epitomised
two teams who are sat mid table, seeing the season out.
The
Blues best chance fell to John Paul Kissock who in the dying minutes
shot straight at Leeds keeper Wilberforce. Blues keeper Iain Turner
had to be smart at the death to make sure the Blues came away with something,
when he saved smartly from Beckford in injury time. Nil all it stayed.
Andy
Holden says: "We had to work for our point as they were
older and stronger and a little bit wiser in certain areas. But we defended
well, and Iain (Turner) did well when called upon. We stuck at it and
we rode our luck, but it was a well-earned point.
They
had a bit more possession just after the break. Steve Stone was getting
on the ball and he is a quality player. We could have won it when Victor
did his usual trick of getting the ball off John Paul Kissock, turned
his man but sadly it hit the keeper's legs. In and around the box, if
Victor gets the ball into his feet, no one is going to get it off him."
