Everton: Wright, Wynne, Wilson, Ferrari, Hughes, Phelan, Hopkins, Li Tie, Vidarrson, Anichebe, Vaughan Subs: Downs (Hopkins 17), Kearney (Vidarrason 48), Lake, Wright, Holt Scorer: Ferrari (75) An Everton debut albeit for the rezzies, saw Matteo Ferrari score, and put in a blinding performance which had the watching Moyesy licking his lips. As sleek as the car he is named after, Matteo also had a goal disallowed, as he enjoyed pushing forward looking for opportunities. Everton came from behind in a tight affair which saw Robbie Blake give the visitors the lead in the 56th minute, who beat Dickie with an unstoppable drive. With Li Tie, Dickie Wright, and young Vaughny on display, the night belonged to Matteo Ferrari. He may have swapped the Olympic Stadium for Goodison, but his Everton love affair began on a piss wet night at humble Haig Avenue Southport. (01/09/05) |
