Everton Reserves 2005/2006

man ure 3 Everton 1 / Premiership Reserves / Thu 6th Oct 2005 / Kick Off: 7:00pm / Att: 515

Everton: Wright, Wynne, Wilson, Kroldrup, Hughes, Harris, Seargeant, Phelan, Beattie, Anichebe, Kearney

Bench: Hopkins (Beattie 22), Jones, Wright, Holt, Irving

Scorers: Beattie

The good news is we have a first teamer scoring, albeit for the rezzies. The bad news is he went off injured after 22 minutes. James 'Dot Cotton' Beattie is back on the doctors table with a calf injury, after starting for the rezzies in last night defeat at the hands of man ure at Hyde United's ground.

Moyesy could not believe his luck as he watched on from the stands, as his injury prone striker was struck down again. It is not known how severe the injury is, but with his recent record of appearances let's not hold our breath on seeing Biffa to soon. The night started so well for Moyesy's acquisition from Southampton, when his deflected thirty yard effort found it's way into Tommy Lee's net, not Pammy's fella', but United's keeper.

Everton fell to three goals, two in the first and one late on in the second. Moyesy other first teamer on show Per Kroldrup had a quiet game, but thankfully came through the ninety minutes unscathed, physically anyone.

Team News

Andy Holden can call on a strong reserve side tonight, as Moyesy uses the blank Premiership weekend, to let players get some badly needed match fitness. Biffa, and PK are the two notable players travelling over to Hyde United's ground for the match with man ure. Both players without doubt will feature in the big boys next game, away at Tottenham next weekend if they come through this match unscathed. With Dickie Wright in the sticks, Everton should turn over United's second string, with the first team fare t6hey have on offer.

Moyesy on PK: "Per is in good shape. Really for him now it is just a case of getting used to the Premier League more than anything, nothing else. It is that period which takes adaptability, getting used to the play and knowing the tempo of the Premier League. It happens, especially with boys who come in from abroad. It's not something that happens immediately. The physical side is very important but he has got the attributes to cope with that because of his size and his stature. But it is different when it comes to it. Ideally he would have been here and would have been forcing his way into the team. We brought him here to give us competition for Davie Weir and Joseph Yobo. When Per went down, we brought Matteo Ferrari in as well, so we are actually close to getting some competition at the back. Hopefully it will work before the end of the season and they will all get their chance to play."

Moyesy on Biffa: "The reserve game will be a continuation of his training during the week. We hope this is the one but we have still got to get him in the right condition. He's not going to be right after just one reserve game - it's going to be a few weeks. ut it is certainly going to put him in contention because we are short of strikers at the minute. He's doing a lot of training and this week there is a chance to get a bit of work in him. Hopefully he will come back into the fold next week." (06/10/05)
