Andy Van der Meyde made his first appearance in a blue shirt. He was joined by Biffa Beattie and PK. PK played the full 90minutes. Andy Pandy and Biffa were replaced after 68 minutes. Van der Meyde showed the watching crowd his skills and got out wide and put in a few good crosses.

Iain Turner made a couple of great saves in the first half. Kearney and Hoko missed chances at the other end.
Sunderland went ahead just after the interval, but Everton rallied well. Again it was Hoko and Kearney who had chances. JP Kissock's goal bound shot was headed off the line. Everton got their deserved equaliser in injury time when Jay Harris scored after great play from JP.

Andy Van Der Meyde makes his long awaited debut in an Everton shirt tonight as the rezzies visit the North East to face Sunderland. The Dutch International has been part of the Everton set up since the Summer, and the Everton staff will be glad to see him on the road to recovery as they try to find goals from somewhere. Moyesy will also be delighted that Biffa, and PK will also be featuring tonight for Andy Holden's lads. No doubt Moyesy will hot foot it over from his retreat in the Lakes, were he is away with the first team squad.

All the players after the match will make it over to Everton's lakeland retreat were they are all needed for tomorrow's big caneoing gala. Honest.

Moyesy on Andy: "He had a good week's training and I'll try and get him a reserve game now, but that'll be his first game for some time."

Moyesy on Biffa: "He came off in the reserve game last week and only started training with us on Thursday. Generally, his all-round athleticism and fitness isn't bad but it's his lack of match-play. He needs a couple of reserve games." (19/10/05)
