Everton:
Turner,
Wynne,
Boyle, Wright, Hughes, Harris Bench: Downs (Phelan), Phelan (Kissock), Wilson (Vidarrsson), Jones, Kearney. An experienced Villa second string were to much for Everton's youngsters as they went down 2-0 at home last night. A Villa side containing Eric Djemba Djemba, Lee Hendrie and Da La Cruz gifted Andy Holden's lads few opportunities, as goals from Gardener and Williams in the second period gave the Midlanders maximum points. Everton did create a few chances most notably through Bjarni Vidarrsson who watched his header cleared off the line. Iain Turner in the Everton goal was by far the busier keeper on the evening, and he had to stand tall to stop chances from Da La Cruz and Lee Hendrie. In the end Everton found Villa containing such first team experience too tougher nut to crack, and the win for Villa pushed them back to the top of the table, whilst Everton sit mid way. (02/11/05)
