Talk About A Game of Two Halves!

Everton: Gerrard; Hibbert, Xavier, Pilkington, Cleland, Blomqvist, Pembridge, Moore, Tal, Chadwick, Cadamarteri.

Bench: Pettinger, Curran, Valentine, Kearney. Eaton for Chadwick (75m)

Scorers: Chadwick (40'), Cadamarteri (43')

Sunderland: Macho, Harrison, McCartney, Clark, Byrne, Medina, Bellion, Dickman, Kyle, Butler, Oster.

Jesper Blomqvist finally made his first appearance in a blue shirt tonight, & not a bad start at all. He was fast, tricky, got stuck in, & put some great passes through. He tired in the second half, but so did all the Everton players. Nic Chadwick had Everton's best chance of the half when he used his strength to push through the Black Cat defence, but his shot was saved. Everton took the lead, when Jesper nipped past a defender, jinked & crossed to Danny. His shot was parried away, but Chadwick was Johnny on the spot, & slotted. Just before half time it was 2-0 for the Blues. Pilkington chipped a ball over the defence for Danny to go on, & score .

Half-time: Sunderland 0, Everton 2.

Everton started the second half as they had finished the first, with Nic Chadwick having two chances straight away. There was no indication that Sunderland would score 4. They did. The first saw Gerrard save a shot, but Bellion scored the rebound. The second came when Kyle had a free header. The third saw a mix up between Hibbert & Abel, allowing Marchant to score. Then Gerrard allowed ex Everton player John Oster to score, with a poor effort to save. In between the goals, Blomqvist continued to shine, & looks top drawer. Nic Chadwick had a good game, & should find himself at least on the bench for the Leicester game, but if Blue Kipper had their way, he would start up front with the Rad. The other player, who continues to impress is George Pilkington.

Full - time: Sunderland 4, Everton 2.
