With Nash, Edghill, Whitley, Ritchie, Dickov, & Tiatto all having 1st team games under their belts, but it was Everton, who scored the opening goal, through Kevin McLeod. Idan Tal's corner was headed home by McLeod at the near post. City looked shell shocked, after Danny Cadamarteri scored Everton's second goal after 15 minutes. Danny hit a powerful shot from the edge of the box, that Nash couldn't hold, after good work from Leon Osman. City scored there only goal when McCarthy beat Gerrard, after slack marking from a corner. City came more into the game, as the first half came to a close, but Paul Gerrard made some good saves. Half time : City 1, Everton 2. Everton made it 3-1, when Danny Cadamarteri scored his second. Danny was Johnny on the spot, when he pounced on a City error to stab the ball home from close range. It was a backs to the wall job, after that, with City piling on the pressure. Gerrard made some fine saves, especially from Dickov. City hit the post. But good defensive work by Everton, especially centre back George Pilkington, & Alec Cleland, kept Everton in the lead. Mark Pembrige came through a full 90 minutes, & should be ok for Saturday. Leon Osman played his 1st game of the season. The only injury worry was Idan Tal, who will have a black eye this morning, after a kick in the gob. Full-time: City 1, Everton 3. What do you think?
