Man Utd 2 v 1 Everton Thurs
18th April 2002 @ Old Trafford . Att: 200 Lee back on The Ball, but Simmo injured. Everton: Simonsen, Cleland, O'Hanlon, Pilkington, Clarke, Pembridge, Southern, Carsley, Rooney, Osman, McLeod Bench: Pettinger, Curren, Carney for Cleland (31m), Eaton for Carsley (70m), Symes for Rooney (59m) Scorers: Pembridge (58m) Man Utd : Williams, Roche, Rankin, Tierney, May, Wallwork, Chadwick, Djordjic, Nardiello, Davis, Richardson. Everton had plenty of posecion in the first half, but United always looked dangerous on the counter attack. Wayne Rooney starting his 1st ever reserve match tried a lob from 35yards, but it just went over the bar. United took the lead when a cross was met by Wallwork, & he beat Simmo all ends up. Rooney again was the danger, when he powered away from a defender, but his shot went wide. Half time : Utd 1, Everton 0. Everton started brightly, but this time they were rewarded with a goal. Pembo scored with a right foot(yes he has got one) shot which hit the back of the net. This stung Utd into action. Davis put Utd 2-1 up. With all 3 subs used, Everton had to play with 10 men for the last 14 minutes. Simmo limped off with what looked like a back injury, leaving Peter Clarke to go in goal. He even made a good stop. Full-time: City 1, Everton 3. What do you think? E-mail Blue Kipper |
