The Golden Vision

I have just spent the weekend at the WOMAD festival in Reading. (It's a hippy thing).

I did notice that Alex Young has gone into the clothing business but I think he must have had too much of the wacky backy when he ordered the replica Everton shirts.

Here is a photo of the stall and a photo of the scarf bearing the name of the stall.

Evertonian on Tour

Here is a photo of my fellow Evertonian mate 'Paul Corris' who is
currently travelling around Australia!

Cheers, Lee. (30/07/04)

Follow Me To Goodison

This is a picture of my car, Proudly showing off the Badge of the pride of merseyside! I'm a season ticket holder in the family enclosure and this will be my 11th season! COYB! Great site!!!

I bought my son, Liam the Shoot 2004 annual today and look what he found slap bang in the middle pages.
ha ha and were above the redshite for once (rolls eyes smiley). The text reads:

"EVEN IF YOU ARE NOT an Everton fan you will probably be able to laugh at the Scouse humour on this great site. Put together by a "gang of Evertonians who have known each other for 25 years" it offers both entertainment and information. They even got Wayne Rooney to say a few words and hold up one of their T-shirts - now there's a vote of confidence. Updated regularly."

Mick Meagan

Thought you might be interested in this team shot that includes Mick Meagan – back row, third from left.

Mick, as you know played at full-back for Everton in the early sixties and, I think, joined Huddersfield in the deal that brought Ray Wilson to Everton. Mick eventually went on to become Ireland’s first full-time manager. I first saw Everton in the ’66 Cup Final and have supported them since.

Although in his late seventies Mick still turns out each year in a charity match in aid of the local St Andrews home. His team consists of former Ireland / League of Ireland / English First Division players and the opposition is provided by Manortown United FC managers and coaches. (The year before last he actually turned out for Manortown and I had the pleasure of playing alongside him in defence.)

Manortown field teams in the Leinster Senior League and the Dublin and District Schoolboy League. Our most famous ‘son’ is Niall Quinn who played all his schoolboy football with us before moving to Arsenal (Man City and Sunderland). For any Dublin Toffees wishing to see Mick in action the match always takes place the day after St. Stephen’s Day / Boxing Day at about 11:30.

Regards, Martin Speers. (29/05/04)

(Mick Meagan played 176 times for Everton Aug 1957 to July 1964 scoring one goal before being transferred to Huddersfield in the exchange deal for Ray Wilson.)
