We will be coming back to The Cheppie, early next season to take some more photos.

The Chepstow Castle,
County Road
Walton

Nominated by Tony 'Blueblood' Evans -' You Going The Length of County Road and missing out The Chepstow? Plenty of blues meet up here after all games all local lads'. Man of few words is our mate Tony!!

So the Blue Kipper boys dutifully headed down to The Cheppy before the last game of the season (via a detour for a swift couple with Mickey Blue Eyes in the Black Horse) and sampled the true delights of what most definitely is a Top Toffee Ale'ouse. The Chepstow Castle was packed with blues who were throwin' the ale down and in fine voice, raising the rafters with renditions of 'An' if yer know yer 'istory....' We received a Royle welcome off Mike & Sue, even if they are followers of the other lot!!!

The Management * * * *
Mike & Sue have been at The Chepstow over 6 years, together with their guard dog Buster a mongrel who Mike says is more likely to bring you a squeaky toy rather than go for you! Mike only employs blondes, says it's good for business, his wife Sue is also blonde but Mike says she's not natural!!
They are ably supported by their team Nick, Danny, Noelle and bottle collector young Mike.
Atmosphere * * * * *

Not the biggest of places, the bus shelter type seats tell you that, The Cheppy makes the most of what it has and crams them in. The place was packed with wall to wall blues, kids welcomed, there was every age group with plenty of Blue Ladies, including the lovely Park End Teresa - nice tattoo!!

The telly was blaring, the place buzzing and then the chanting started - happy days, we quickly realised why Tony who nominated the pub said so few words, if this is what it is usually like you are wasting your time as you cannot hear y'self think! Top place.

Ale * * * * *
Whitbread house with all the usual, we were getting well stuck into the Stella, Raymondo was more than happy with the wide variety of whiskey on offer, extra cold Guinness was on tap, all the strong bottled stuff was well refrigerated and there was a promo on for blue WKD well we had to have some of that as well didn't we? Why? Because it would be rude not to.
Music, TV & Radio * * * *
Jukey is post match only. No radio (thankfully). SKY big screen and 9 TV's booming out, we can only think that when the jukey is on it must be bloody loud, anyway with the singin' that was goin' on the jukey wasn't needed.
Locals * * * *
Fat Tony, Alan Ducky, Everton Supporters Club (South Wales) and Malcolm Allison, not THE Malcom Allison just some bloke who is still wearing a sheepy after all these years. The Cheppy also has celebrity status, it is a regular haunt of Simon O'Brien.
Special Features * * *
Talking of haunts there are two ghosts in residence. One is an ex-manager who hung himself on the premises - apparently he was red shite and couldn't come to terms with it. The second is an aggressive ghoul who has smashed lamps, switched off the hoover and recently cash up the tills - good stuff your drinking Mike??
