The Netley

The Netley
Walton Road
Walton

Nominated by Becky T, she obviously likes to have a bit of space on matchdays. Have you ever been to the moon Becky? Because there is no atmosphere there either!

Standing on the corner of Langham St and County Rd, The Netley is just down the road from The Toffee Shop, so you would think that it would be popular and packed that's where you would be wrong. However once you get in and sample the ambiance you quickly get to know the reason why. Last decorated pre-war, with calor gas heaters on full - these light your way to the bar as someone hasn't paid the lecky bill! Hoogie went to the bog and had an icicle hanging from his knob!

'I never said it was nice, or atmospheric! I said it was near to the ground and where the Internet people met. Jeeeesus! People will be thinking its my idea of heaven now ffs!'
'Anyway, the friggin pictures aren't there!' - they are now!
'Still Talking Blue' autographed by Howard Kendall and Gordon West - now available at www.stilltalkingblue.com/

The Management * *
Jimmy is a bluebelly and was wearing his sweat shirt to prove it, although he doesn't get to too many games as he has to look after his gaffe. Supported by his team, Liz, Zoe & Sue - not forgetting Ann 'the best cleaner in Liverpool' (she needs a medal).

Atmosphere *
Bring your own, it was 2 O'Clock and the place was almost empty, it was a good job Blue Kipper were paying a visit because otherwise Jimmy needn't have opened. Jimmy says the place is due to be done up next month, make sure they start in the bog Jim it's hangin'.
Ale *
Owned by the Pub Estate Co. there are some unusal beers on offer like Chestnut Mild with a 'Distinctive Dark Roasted Flavour', Green Label bitter & McEwans lager. Not the widest of choices so we went on the Strongbow with a Courvoisier chaser. Sting Ray was unimpressed with the range of whiskey snifters!
Music, TV & Radio *
Sky TV on the one small screen telly no sound, Jukey was not on, no radio, perhaps this is all part of the plot to keep the punters away?
Locals *
Eggsy, Max Wall (Frank), Michael Caine (Kenny) & Gus but none of them were in!
Oates & Scott of the Antarctic!

Special Features *

The only culture in The Netley was found growing on the window cills!
Might be worth a visit for a darts match to see the face on whoever is sitting under the dart board.
The cellar has a ghost, regularly hear noises - it's an attempt to make people passing think that there is someone in the pub!!
The boys from 'Speke from the Harbour' use the Netley as a base, nice choice lads?!
