THE WINSLOW
Top Toffee Ale'ouse

What time do you open?

The Winslow
Goodison Rd.

'Were doin' The Winslow' on Sundy says Kipper, 'I've purrit on the site!'. Oh shite, now as you may know we have only ever done Satdy TTA's for obvious reasons - serious Sundy hangovers! So here we were, arriving late with a head like Birkenhead into the busiest pub in Walton for more loopy juice to top up last night's quota. Not a good idea, hence it's taken 3 weeks to get this on.

The Winslow is probably the best known ale'ouse amongst Evertonian's (many labour The Stanley Park/Blue'ouse conundrum), then again many call this after the place in Cheshire - The Wilmslow!

Split into two parts, today we were visiting the upmarket lounge side on the left as you walk in, as opposed to the upmarket bar side on your right.
Being still seriously pissed from the night before I can only apologise for this report and blame amnesia, I'll get it right on our return visit.

The Management **
Colin Findlay is the boss but we never got to meet him, sorry Col - next time. However, without even meeting the bloke we know he is switched on by his recruitment policy, take on half a dozen good looking, sexy ladies train 'em up and put them behind the bar - lookin' & doin' the business (you know what I mean) and the punters come flooding in. Add the Boys in the Royal Blue Jerseys and you have a recipe for mayhem!

Who ate all the pies?

Atmosphere ****
Absolutely packed, yet pretty subdued, prehaps we were all expecting a Cup upset? Plenty of Blues doing plenty of chin wagging - needs some good blue tunes and the place would be really rockin'. Then perhaps we were in the wrong side? A good excuse for another visit!
Ale ****
Couldn't get close enough to the bar to see what was on offer. Jogger tells me the the lager was cushty, there were plenty of cold bottles and Sting Ray was happy with his snifters. I was bollixed at this point as I was on cider and a brandy chaser. Another excuse to come back!
Music, TV & Radio **

I could hear music but it wasn't coming from a jukey, there were 5 tellys with SKY on dotted around the place and I believe that there in a big screen in the bar. However I didn't get chance to look, mind you possibly would have missed it, must come back.
Locals *
Absolutely chocka with wall to wall Blueboys, didn't get chance to speak with the gaffer to find out about the Usual Suspects. Definitely coming back to find out!
Special Features ***

Shirts of famous players such as Dunne, Ebbrell & Farrelly framed on the wall.
The best pies in Walton, nearly as sexy as the barmaids.
Supporters Disco upstairs at 7pm - Z Cars guaranteed.
