The 'Bottom' House
Church Road
Walton

(the 'Top House' being at the top of St Mary's Lane)

Nominated by an unknown Kipper last season (e-mail us if it was you), we visited The Bottom House as it is fondly known real name analfield Hotel. Home to many Blues pre-match despite the name it is closer to Goodison than analfield, yet also a watering hole for redshite probably due to the name either that they are all closet Blues deep down really.

The Management * *
The boss Andy Poole from Blackpool has only had the place 8 weeks and is doing his best to attract new customers, however he couldn't stay long as he was off to watch the redshite away at Blackburn! All footy fans are welcomed by Andy who is like Victor Kyam, he liked the pub that much he bought it!!
Andy is ably assisted by his Manager, Steve & Assistant Manager, Helen.

Unhappy Hour

If that ball comes in my Beer Garden again...!

Beer Patio

What Beer Garden?

Blue Side of Back Room

Atmosphere * *
Hardly rockin' although it did pick up a bit after 2pm.There is a small front bar, a back room and of course there is a Beer Garden at the front. The back room is split, half Blue and half redshite and whilst there is the odd splattering of Blue memorabilia throughout the pub it is predominantly the other. Andy is on the lookout for more Blue material. Perhaps the surroundings account for the subdued atmosphere?
Ale * * *
Well despite the reluctant anticipation on seeing the Greenhall's Sign on entry, we were all quite happy on the Stella, Strongbow and Guinness all of which were quality and went down that well from 12 Noon we missed kick off! They have even got mild for yer arl' fella or yer Grandad (or Kipper for his Manns Mixed). Loads of bottles on ice - nice to see Blue Wkd & Stingray was well happy with the snifters, so no complaints on the ale front.
Music, TV & Radio * *
Big screen in the back room showing SKY, small screen in Bar but a 2nd big screen is planned, no sounds - no atmosphere!

Regulars are Gary B, Frank the Yank, Joe, Graham, Tommy Tyre and the lovely Brenda.

But as Andy has only been in the place a few weeks he is still getting to know everyone, he has however met the local prankster - the ghost. Yes, nearly every pub in Walton has one & the Bottom House is no exception, the alarm keeps going off for no apparent reason - it can't be stay-behind's as we didn't even get offered a bevvy!!

Andy says all footy fans are welcome, when asked about the history of the place he understandably didn't know much saying, 'history is not my forte' unlike us Toffeemen!
